Tropes:

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: After looking over some family albums, Maddie longs for Danny's childhood days. Unfortunately, she ends up getting more than she bargained for after Danny and Sam are regressed to five-years old while retaining their ghost powers. After being worn out, she tells the others that if she ever gets into the mood again, they should drop something heavy on her head.
  • Brick Joke: Just before the climax, Maddie told her family to drop something heavy on her head if she ever pined for Danny's childhood again. At the end of the story, after Danny and Maddie have a tender moment, Jack, Jazz, and Danielle each hold a heavy object over Maddie's head, intending to following through with what she asked. She quickly tells them that that's not what she meant.
  • Call-Back:
    • At the beginning of the story, Tucker is seen at Axion Labs' dedication to start up of the new Cybertron system, as was mentioned back in "Pairing Off".
    • When Danny and Sam encounter the Guys in White, it's mentioned how Future Danny and Sam had knocked out their operation, but apparently wasn't enough to put them out of business for good.
  • Is It Always Like This?: After seeing the large crowd on the front porch of FentonWorks, Danielle asks if she'll be seeing that more often. Jazz regrettably gives an answer that translates into a tired 'yes'.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Danny and Sam being turned into five-year olds wouldn't be so bad, if it wasn't for the fact that it also caused their minds to regress as well.
  • Moment Killer: Subverted and played straight in one sitting when Jack ends up blacking out half of Amity Park with his Ghost Guzzler, including Danny and Sam's movie night. While Danny is obviously irked, the two decide it's not so bad as they take advantage of the dark to have a makeout session. Unfortunately, Jack still ends up messing things up for them when the ghosts he had tried to test the Ghost Guzzler on get loose, triggering Danny and Sam's Ghost Senses.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • It was mentioned that one time, Jack tried to create a Spectral Shrieker device that would create a noise only ghosts could hear. Unfortunately, he ends up getting the opposite of what he had in mind, with ghosts being the only ones who can't hear it. The only ones besides Danny and Sam who got any sleep that night were Jazz, Tucker, and Valerie due to sleeping with Fenton Phones.
    • The fact that FentonWorks is regularly visited by mobs is hinted at by Jack, who noted that their formations are getting faster.
  • Oh, Crap!: Danny and Sam have an appropriate Freak Out when they find they've regressed to five year olds.
  • Open the Door and See All the People: After Jack blacks out half the town, the Fentons hear someone pounding at their door, with Jack opening it to reveal an angry mob carrying flashlights and lanterns led by Sam's parents.
  • Shout-Out: The author has stated that the premise of this story is based off of Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Rascals".
  • We Need a Distraction:
    • In order to get some breathing room when Agents O and K are closing in on them, Danny and Sam duck into an alley, change back to human, and go into a Fake-Out Make-Out. As Sam notes, however, it's not exactly 'fake' anymore.
    • When Tucker and the Fentons need to keep Little Danny and Sam busy while they work on a cure for their condition, Tucker turns out the television to cartoons. It works as the pair are kept entertained...at first.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Upon discovering that Danny and Sam had been regressed to children, the Guys in White showed they were more than willing to harm them. The same goes for when they capture Danielle and attempt to experiment on her.
