Short Summary
As Danielle continues to adjusting to school life at Elm Street Middle School, she finds herself disapproving of the pecking order and uses her ghost powers to discreetly shift the balance. However, her actions soon draw the attention of some of the best known ghost hunters in the world, along with some of the
best. At the same time, a mysterious man appears in Amity Park.
Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: The beginning of the story made it look like Danielle was in the middle of the wilderness and preparing to fend off a ghost. In actuality, she was bringing some treats to Wulf.
- Bittersweet Ending: Danielle's identity is safe, but she has to face consequences with the Fenton parents for her antics, while Mike Harris begins to suspect something about her. At the same time, the mysterious ghost 'G' has appeared, and Team Phantom doesn't know what to make of him.
- Bully Hunter: Dani uses her powers this way, protecting her new friends from their bullies (and in one instance turning one of their pranks against them).
- The Bus Came Back: The Groovy Gang and Extreme Ghostbreakers, not seen since "The Million Dollar Ghost", make a reappearance in this story.
- Chest Insignia: Back insignia at least, but Sam finally develops a logo for her ghost form. Danny and Tucker don't see the practicality in it being on the back of her coat, but Danielle doesn't find anything wrong with it.
- "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: After Danielle's ghostly stunts land her in trouble both with ghost hunters and her parents, Danny comments that she should've come to him, as he could've told her that wasn't the way to go about things.
- A Day in the Limelight: For Danielle. The title even mentions her name instead of Danny's.
- Demoted to Extra: While they do end up playing a major role in the climax, Danny, Sam, and Tucker don't appear a lot in the story, something Tucker lampshades when he notes it doesn't seem like a lot is happening with them. Sam then proceeds to kick him as he might've jinxed them with that line.
- Hammerspace: Mike Harris has quite a lot of detective equipment hidden inside his trench coat.
- Mythology Gag: When Danielle and Jane wonder where Mike got his listening equipment, he responds with "Internet".
- Noodle Incident:
- Oh, Crap!: When Danielle learns that Danny and the others found out about her predicament because the Masters' Blasters were livestreaming the whole thing, she wonders if there was a chance that Jack and Maddie saw it as well. Sure enough, upon arriving home, Jack and Maddie are there standing over her with disapproving frowns.
- Rule of Three: Throughout the story, Danielle had three encounters with ghost hunting teams. While she easily handles the Groovy Gang and Extreme Ghostbreakers, it's when she she encounters the Masters' Blasters that she's in over her head.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When the Groovy Gang encounters Danielle, Scaredy Cat gets so freaked out when she says "Boo!" that he drags his teammates back to their van and drives straight out of town, much to Danielle's surprise.
- Sequel Hook: In the final scene of the story, Mike Harris, the Kid Detective of Elm Street Middle School, begins to suspect that Danielle is hiding something.
- Shout-Out: The school that Danielle attends is called "Elm Street" Middle School.
- You Are Grounded!: It's hinted that Danielle landed in major trouble with Jack and Maddie at the end of the story for her ghostly hijinks.
