Frank and the guys execute their plan to get Scoop Dunbarton removed from Mohican Airways, while Sue is about to present her invention to the company.
Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: When Frank and his team manage to get Scoop on board, a colonel approaches them asking them what they are doing in suspicion. It turns out that he is actually a terrorist in disguise as part of a hijacking.
- Call-Back:
- Frank and the others meet to discuss the plan to get rid of Scoop at the Yarn store.
- Apparently Cutie Pie had sex with or peed on Skeeball.
- Frank then says to God that situations like being held up in a terrorist situation are reasons he doesn’t attend church.
- Curbstomp Battle: Scoop makes pretty short use of the BLABLA members.
- Evil vs. Evil: The BLABLA members vs Scoop Dunbarton when the latter wakes up.
- Exiled to the Couch: Once again, Frank is refused by Sue to sleep in the same bed for the night, so he sleeps on the couch, as the opening reveals.
- Flipping the Bird: Kevin does this to Frank when he and his siblings discover that their dad sold off the tv in their living room since it was costing them too much money in the form of bills.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus:
- When Scoop steps on the bomb, his body parts can be seen flying in all directions...including his blue veined balls.
- And while the rest of the Murphy family viewing this looks shocked at this gruesome death, Maureen for some reason looks happy.
- Shortly afterwards, Scoop's uncle is looking at a fully readable news clipping which details Scoop's backstory right before he dies.
- Hypocritical Humor: When chewing out Frank for trying to get rid of his nephew, Roger tells him that Scoop is his "genetic superior". He is saying this as Scoop is hollering and singing like a maniac.
- Immediate Self-Contradiction: When the police chief is arguing with the terrorists over the megaphone, Roger Dunbarton comes along to try and talk reason to them. He then snatches the megaphone and calls the terrorists animals.
- Meadow Run: After the terrorists have been stopped and the Dunbarton's killed, Frank and Sue run toward each other over the runway to hug. However, because Frank was shot in the arm and he hugs Sue, he grasps it in pain.
- Parting-Words Regret: The morning of the hijacking, when Sue asks Frank if he has anything to say before leaving, he replies "Breakfast sucked." He comes to dearly regret this when he is almost killed without saying goodbye to Sue.
- Pet the Dog: When Frank makes a Rousing Speech on how he regrets treating his wife, the BLABLA looks sympathetic towards him. Indeed, the gunman aiming at Frank chooses to shoot him in the arm instead of the head.
- Roger Dunbarton also looks sympathetic, even though he was furious at him for being part of a scheme to get rid of his nephew. But once he sees that Frank tried to get his job back by stowing his nephew on a plane, he throws that aside to chew him out and threaten to put him in prison.
- Put Their Heads Together: Scoop does this with two members of the BLABLA.
- Self-Disposing Villain: Scoop accidentally kills himself by stepping on the bomb.
- The Smurfette Principle: One of the members of the BLABLA hijacking team is a woman. Not only that, but she is also a reverse Token Minority; a blonde-haired Caucasian. Clues in the season reveal that she is Danielle Kerry, a woman who was originally kidnapped by the terrorist organization but was later radicalized.
- Soundtrack Dissonance: The chirpy and uplifting "Early In The Morning" by Vanity Fare plays as Frank and Sue both wake and get ready for the day miserably and pissed with each other due to the events of "Pray Away".
- Throw the Dog a Bone:
- When Vic tells Kevin Cutie Pie didn't just cheat on him with Kevin, and that he lost his job due to his drug use, Kevin lets him sleep in his room after Vic falls asleep on his bed.
- After everything that's happened him this and last season, Bill seems to finally catch a break when Jimmy (his bully) tells him they're now on good terms after Bill took him to the hospital after he was hit by a truck. Also, Bill finds he has a crush on (and in) Jimmy's little sister, Bridget.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: When Frank is listing off to the gunman how much his life sucks, Bill reacts by throwing up.
