Recap / F Is For Family S 2 E 9 Pray Away

Go To

Frank and Sue make some important discoveries when they confront a moment of truth at a couple's retreat. Vic's party has plenty in store for those that attend. Bill joins forces with Phillip to deal with Jimmy.

Tropes:

  • Awful Truth: After Sue complains that he is never honest with her about his feelings, Frank finally admits that deep down, his ego was so wounded over losing his job and status as the family breadwinner, that he had hoped that Sue would fail at her new job at the Plast-a-Ware office. He states a feeling of relief at airing his feelings, and Father Pat praises him for his honesty. Sue, on the other hand, is understandably furious that he wished to sacrifice her success and her self-esteem for his own ego. On top of that, Sue is already upset when Frank accidentally lets slip that he lied to her about going to the unemployment office as he had promised he would.
  • The Scapegoat: Jimmy is once again blamed for something that he didn't do. Unlike last time, it's a more comical example as after Randy hits him with his truck, he says that his name is Jimmy Fitzsimmons.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Bill and Phillip's plan to knock Jimmy off his bike backfires because they had Ben and Kenny pull the rope they were going to use too soon, causing Jimmy to ride his bike around them. He gets hit anyway by Randy in his truck.
  • Toad Licking: One of the many drugs offered at Vic's party. After he decides to get clean, one can still be seen dead in his yard until he accidentally runs his lawnmower over it.
