The Bureau arrives to Lhasa in the Tibet region, China, so they can track and confront Om Padmasana about his ties with O.M. MediLab and SOMBRA. Once there, Jack and the player visit a village square since Averly Worthington, his most loyal follower, was spotted there, but only manage to find the disemboweled body of tuk-tuk driver Sandeep Sadhra.

Tropes:

  • Awesome by Analysis: By analyzing The Head Hunter's letter to a molecular level, Lars manages to unveil that it was sent from the Chinese province of Yunnan, giving you a lead about where to go next.
  • Back for the Finale: Warren Goodfellow, Arsha Raju, Sanjay Korrapati, Averly Worthington, and Om Padmasana all return as suspects in this case, which is the last one set in South Asia.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Warren, who had been acting like a genuinely good Rising Hope and ONG worker, reveals himself as a smug and murderous madman who had been working for SOMBRA this entire time.
  • The Climax: For South Asia.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Warren became evil after all the red tape and bureaucracy inside of Rising Hope pushed him to joining SOMBRA, who offered him unlimited power under their control.
  • Evil All Along: Warren Goodfellow, the NGO worker that had been helping India recover from multiple disasters and appeared to be a kind-hearten man in charge of Rising Hope, turns out to be a murderous fraud and SOMBRA agent behind O.M. MediLab and its fake charity this entire time.
  • Fallen Hero: In Warren's trial, his Freudian Excuse for joining SOMBRA reveals that he used to be a genuinely good man until he grew disillusioned with how things were being run under law.
Judge Adaku: Why join SOMBRA at all, Mr Goodfellow? After decades of valuable work with Rising Hope, why throw all that away?
Warren: Ha! Decades of fruitless struggling. I was tired of having my hands tied by bureaucracy and red tape.
SOMBRA offered me limitless resources and complete control, the power to run things as I wanted! Why should morality stop you from getting things done?!
  • False Friend: Warren pretended to be Sandeep's friend so he would unknowingly help him frame the guru by delivering packages full of incriminating evidence to his sanctuary. When Sandeep outlived his usefulness and became a burden, Warren decided to kill him.
  • Fat Bastard: Warren, who is quite on the heavy side, is revealed to be a member of SOMBRA and Sandeep's murderer.
  • Forceful Kiss: Averly attempted to kiss Om Padmasana during one of their spiritual sessions, just in time for Sandeep to take a photo of the deed and almost unwillingly ruining his reputation.
  • Frame-Up: As it turns out, the reason why Om Padmasana had been in the Bureau's radar this entire time and why most of the clues for Sandeep's murder and ownership of O.M. MediLab pointed towards him was because Warren had been framing him.
Warren: The purpose of framing that foolish Guru, is what. I set him up and you bought it whole! That poor guy had no idea what was happening!
Jack: You were framing the Guru? For Sandeep's murder? That's why all the evidence was pointing to him!
Warren: You almost made it too easy. You also believed the Guru was the one behind O.M. MediLab...
  • Freaky Funeral Forms: According to Angela, the reason why the killer disemboweled Sandeep was because they intended to fed his body to the vultures just like people from Tibet tend to do.
  • Genuine Human Hide: The killer made a traditional Tibetan drum out of Sandeep's stomach skin, which Jack regrets touching it after Lars inform you about what it's made of.
  • Good All Along: After being in the Bureau's radar for long due to his possible connections with SOMBRA and supposedly being a fraud, it turns out that Om Padmasana's holy intentions were completely genuine this entire time, and he truly believed O.M. MediLab and One Mother Milk were genuine charities. During the Additional Investigation, Carmen issues him an apology and Elliot helps him recover his stolen funds as a token of goodwill.
  • Good Samaritan: In the Additional Investigation, Angela decides to create Spring Angels Foundation, a genuine charity for needy children all over the world, after One Mother Milk turns out to be a SOMBRA fraud.
  • Gutted Like a Fish: Sandeep was killed by being disemboweled with a knife.
  • He Knows Too Much: In addition to having no more use for him, Warren also murdered Sandeep after he stumbled onto a stack of papers that proved Warren was behind One Mother Milk, which could spell trouble if he spread the word about it. Warren even claims Sandeep could've been spared hadn't he been so careless.
  • Hermit Guru: You visit guru Om Padmasana's "hideout" in this case, which is a difficult-to-reach cave deep in the mountains of the Tibet.
  • Ironic Name: As it turns out, Warren Goodfellow isn't exactly a very good fellow.
  • Kill the Cutie: Sandeep, one of the nicest and most friendly characters in the entire franchise, gruesomely meets his ends in this case when he's murdered in a pretty horrific fashion. Even Jack wonders who would've wanted to kill such a nice guy.
  • Lost Pet Grievance: Sanjay is shown to be a wreck due to Kesavan, his pet elephant, dying after getting into an accident involving Sandeep's tuk-tuk, giving Sanjay a good motive for killing him.
  • The Man Behind the Man: After Warren is arrested and exposed as a SOMBRA agent, you find a letter from China addressed to him and signed by "The Head Hunter", ordering him to frame Om Padmasana and kill Sandeep after he's done, which means he was taking orders from someone else.
  • Meaningful Rename: Elliot decides to rename SOMBRA's satellite to BØB.
  • Obliviously Evil: Sandeep had been helping Warren frame guru Om Padmasana for all of SOMBRA's misdeeds in South Asia by delivering packages full of evidence to his hideout, all while believing they were totally harmless.
  • Old Shame: Arsha has two In-Universe examples in this case: first there's an embarrassing music CD you find of her, which somehow Sandeep got his hands on and tried to gift it to her. Then later, you find out Sandeep found a photo of Arsha riding a bull during a rodeo when she was doing a tour in the U.S., which would've ruined her Bollywood reputation if the press saw it.
Arsha: Give me that hideous thing! You make one 90's pop album when you're young and it haunts you forever!
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Averly does this when she grows tired of the Bureau following her around asking questions about the guru.
Averly: I've told you once, I'll tell you again. I. Don't. Know.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Om Padmasana justifiably gets angry at you and Jack after acting totally chill in pretty much all his previous encounters, due to the being harassed by the Bureau all over South Asia and getting constantly accused of murder and fraud when his intentions were entirely pure all this time.
  • Running Gag: Throughout the case, characters constantly make puns about Warren's surname by calling him a good fellow, with Jack remarking how ironic it is after he's outed as the murderer.
  • The Scapegoat: Om Padmasana was this for Warren, who tried to frame him for O.M. MediLab's crimes so the Bureau would go after him while Warren continued his illicit activities.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The case's title is most like a reference to the Disney/Pixar film Inside Out.
    • Terravista is a parody of Google Maps.
    • Tukber is a parody of Über.
  • Spanner in the Works: Thanks to Sandeep's video diaries containing everything about his connections with Warren and how he created One Mother Milk, you manage to discover that he's been a part of SOMBRA this entire time.
Warren: Urgh, that bumbling idiot! Even dead, he's causing me trouble!
  • Spit Take: Arsha spits tea into Jack's face after you show her a photo of her riding a bull during a rodeo.
  • Stealing from the Till: Warren had been stealing funds from Rising Hope and giving them to SOMBRA through One Mother Milk, a Fake Charity created by their front O.M. MediLab to gain illegal money.
  • Swiss Bank Account: The reason why O.M. MediLab had been so difficult to track for Elliot was because their transactions were issued in a Luxembourgian bank. Since Luxembourg has a Financial Secrecy Index of nearly 1000, that means financial transactions are almost impossible to trace.
  • Too Much Information: When Lars is explaining that the drum you found is an instrument used in Tibetan tantric practices, Jack ends up saying a little too much about his private life with Asal.
Jack: Did you say... tantric... practices? Like the stuff Asal wants me to do?
    Jack: Oops... TMI?
  • Unwitting Pawn: Sandeep was this for Warren, unknowingly helping him frame the guru for O.M. MediLab's crimes when Warren was behind them the whole time.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Jack vomits off-screen when you find Sandeep's body due to how gruesome his murder is.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Warren murdered Sandeep after he finished unknowingly framing the guru due to having no more use for him and becoming a burden after he discovered Warren had created One Mother Milk.
Warren: Sandeep served his purpose and then had to go. He might've been spared if he hadn't been so careless!
