When Craig, Kelsey, and J.P. are stuck in an algae bog, Mortimor has to send for help.

Tropes:

  • Cassandra Truth: Tony and Boris correctly guess that Mortimor was sent to get help for the Stump Kids, but Jason dismisses this as nonsense.
  • Cell Phones Are Useless: Craig, Kelsey, and J.P. all have cell phones, but can't call for help because they never memorized any numbers and they're the only ones on each other's contact lists.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses on Mortimor, who's forced to act separately from Kelsey for the first time.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In a last effort to escape, Craig decides to pop the raft with a pencil, fully expecting that, like in cartoons, the escaping air will blow them to the shore. Instead, the raft just deflates while staying in place, putting the Stump Kids even more at risk than they already were.
  • Face Your Fears: Mortimor has a fear of dogs, established at the beginning when he is frightened by a small dog. He must get past his fear of Cheesesticks to get to Wildernessa.
  • Gale-Force Sound: Cheesesticks gets the Stump Kids out of the bog by barking so loud, he pushes their raft out the other end. It even briefly separates their souls from their bodies, which J.P. comments on.
  • Iconic Item: Discussed; Kelsey and Craig are offended at J.P.'s suggestions of using Kelsey's PVC sword or Craig's staff as paddles, telling him that he has no appreciation for "iconic accessories". J.P. counters that his long sleeves are his (which he later laments after losing his shirt).
  • Know Your Vines: When Mortimor finds the Junior Forest Scouts, they are trying to find out if a berry Boris found is edible or not.
  • Mucking in the Mud: The kids raft through a thick algae bog, and get stuck when J.P. loses the paddle. They're very averse to climbing out to swim, which may be a genuine concern, as some that gets on J.P.'s finger rapidly grows to cover his arm.
  • Something We Forgot: At the end of the episode, while the Stump Kids are safe, Mortimor forgot to get help for the Junior Forest Scouts who are still stuck in a hole.
Boris: Boris doesn't think the bird is coming back.
  • Timmy in a Well: Kelsey sends Mortimor out for help. He first contacts Kit, but she misunderstands him and shoos him away. Then he tries the Junior Forest Scouts, and even gets them to chase him by taking one of Jason's badges, but then they fall down a hole. Finally he finds Wildernessa, who understands him perfectly. The episode ends with the Forest Scouts still stuck in the hole.
  • Toilet Humor:
    • While waiting in the raft, J.P. asks which end they're going to use as a bathroom.
    • Boris tells Tony to be careful with recommending wild berries, because he doesn't want to get dysentery.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Kelsey calls out Craig for puncturing the raft putting them more at risk of the algae swamp.
