Marcy opened her eyes, and something changed as soon as she saw Anne’s face.

"Hahahahaha what. Mar-Mar, are you okay?"

Don't Drink Unlabelled Potions (also known as Love Potion AU) is an AU Fic for Amphibia by Adapttoeverything34 and FIZII_IS_COOL where Marcy Wu drinks a love potion and falls madly in love with Anne. Another side effect is that Marcy's eyes turn pink and flowers begin to grow in her hair, but it's no big deal Now Anne and the Plantars have to travel to Wartwood to get Maddie and find a cure.
This fic can be found here on Archive of Our Own.

This fanfic contains examples of the following:
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Surprisingly downplayed, in spite of the inclusion of blood and light gore, alongside the occasional swearing (mostly from Anne), the story overall keeps to the mostly lighthearted but still emotional tone of the actual series.
- Adaptational Sexuality: Despite the occasional Ho Yay moments seeded throughout, the three girls simply refer to each other as "best friends" and their sexualities are never stated in the show's canon. However, in the au Anne is bisexual and is genuinely in love with Marcy, which surprisingly enough means that she is hellbent on saving Marcy from the love potion.
- And I Must Scream: The love potion utterly consumes Marcy's psyche. To the point where her every waking (and sleeping) thought revolves around Anne, to borderline Yandere levels of obsession. Marcy laters admits the experience was pretty terrifying and embarrassing.
- Anguished Declaration of Love: The way in which Anne breaks the spell on Marcy, preventing her from killing Maddie. Anne apologizes to Marcy for allowing the spell to get so severe as well as confessing her true feelings towards her, and even if she may not feel the same Anne cannot bear to lose her best friend. Marcy is moved to tears by this, restoring her mind in the process.Anne:Marcy, I’m so, so sorry, I should have tried harder. I should have done what I thought I was going to do. I should have said every meaningful thing to you, everything I’ve ever wanted to say. I failed you. I’m sorry.
Marcy: It’s okay, Anna-banana. I love you, I’m just glad you’re here.
Anne:I love you too! I love you so much. I always have. I’m not leaving you. I’m not going to leave you. If you go down, I’m going down with you. I’m here. I always will be. - Armor-Piercing Question: The disobliging and sullen head nurse Denice gives a particularly scathing one to a worried Anne wishing to check up on Marcy in the hospital room. Fortunately, a more affable newt is quick to deny this and informs Anne that Marcy is just worried as she is.Anne: Yep! I’m not gonna mess with any of the medical staff, or try to escape with her, just in case you were worried. I just want to talk to her [Marcy]. (nervously)...It’s been a long day, and we’ve been through a lot. How did the surgery go?
Denice: It seems so. After everything that’s happened, are you entirely sure she wants to see you? - Ascended Extra: Maddie Flour is given a much more prominent role in this fic, essentially becoming the deuteragonist of the story. Overshadowing prominent characters to the shows' canon such as the Plantar family (sans Anne).
- Berserk Button: Marcy under influence of the love potion becomes extremely protective/possessive of Anne whenever someone speaks or even approaches her. In Chapter 7 she goes on a rampage when Badgers attack Anne and nearly kills Maddie when she accidentally hurt Anne in the crossfire.
- Body Horror: Marcy's gradual transformation into a Botanical Abomination is pretty disturbing to behold. Initially, it seems relatively harmless, cute even when flowers start sprouting from Marcys' hair and her eyes turn pink. However, things only go downhill from there as thorns erupt from her arms and legs, tearing the skin, antler-like branches grow atop her head. Eventually, her limbs transform into razor-sharp wooden talons, and Marcy regresses into a murderous beast that will slaughter any potential threats to Annes' safety. The badgers learn this the hard way.
- Caught the Heart on His Sleeve: Played With; Marcy under the influence of the love potion tends to cling onto Annes' arm wherever she goes. Played for Drama when former starts growing thorns that jab into the latter's skin and develops a vice-like grip.
- Captain Crash: Let's just say you shouldn't trust Hop Pop with the reins. In fact, it's actually the title of Chapter 2.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Given that Anne and Marcy have been best friends since childhood, this goes without saying.
- Crush Blush: Anne has these a lot throughout the story. Being highly flustered from Marcy's magically-induced infatuation for her, (partially due to Anne secretly having a massive crush on the latter). Much to the amusement of Sprig and Polly. The feeling is later revealed to be mutual.
- Death Glare: Marcy gives these to anyone who gets between her and Anne. Even Wally realizes he shouldn't push his luck.
- Love Potion: As the title suggests, Marcy ends up drinking an unlabeled one. Unique in that it starts physically changing her as well as mentally.
