Recap / Camp Camp S 1 E 7 Romeo And Juliet II Love Resurrected

Go To

During the showing of Preston's play, Tabii hijacks the female lead role to get a shot at Neil. Meanwhile, Max screws with David's Tinder account to hilarious effect.

Tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: The feds were show up after Max makes a series of worrisome searches from David's phone - including "how to blowup a summer camp," "super murder plot," and "what do boobies look like."
  • Bad "Bad Acting": It really says something when the platypus (Who can only go "Muack") is considered the best actor in Preston's show.
  • Blood Knight: Gwen is very excited by the prospect of a catfight between Tabii and Bonquisha. When Max confesses to Bonquisha that he was the one who catfished, Gwen can be heard offscreen shouting, "Kick his ass!"
  • Cat Fight: One breaks out between Tabii and Bonquisha.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Preston somehow interpreted Romeo and Juliet, a play about doomed love and untimely death, as the beginning of a sci-fi trilogy where Romeo fights The Empire as a cyborg.
  • Continuity Nod: Only Nikki and Neil met the Flower Scouts in "Scout's Dishonor." When Tabii demands an apology from Max, he bluntly tells her he has no idea who she is.
  • Covert Pervert: In addition to catfishing, identity theft, and a series of Google searches that draw the attention of the government, Max apparently also tried to use David's phone to look up pictures of boobs.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Preston and his hopeless directorial dreams get a lot of focus in this episode.
  • Effortless Amazonian Lift: Bonquisha abducts David for a date like this.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: Of Neil's upper lip.
  • Love Letter Lunacy: Max causes some trouble while catfishing people through David's Tinder profile.
  • Photo Identification Denial: The government agents show David a photo of Cameron Campbell and ask if he has seen him. David awkwardly says "I've been told to tell you 'no'", and the agents decide they can't argue with that.
  • Produce Pelting: The audience's response to the play.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: When David tries to tell Max off at the end of the episode.
David: Max, you have got some serious explaining to do!
Max: I stole your phone and identity and played with women's hearts. What do you need explained?
  • Shout-Out: Neil imitates Darth Vader's famous "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" when he learns of Juliet's fate.
  • The Show Must Go Wrong: Thanks to the Flower Scouts and Max, things go Off the Rails near the finale. Not that the play was going anywhere in the first place.
  • Something We Forgot: The Flower Scouts mug Nikki earlier in the episode. We won't see her until the end.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Tabii is back, and her infatuation with Neil has only gotten worse.
  • Take That!: When Robo-Romeo comes back to life:
Robo-Romeo: System startup... installing Windows update...
  • Third-Person Person: "Nobody plays Bonquisha like that!"
  • Throw It In!: In-Universe, Preston reviews Tabii's off-script performance very well.
Preston: I don't know who this BITCH is, but she is KILLING IT! UGH!
  • What Does She See in Him?: Sasha doesn't get Tabii's infatuation with Neil. Not only because of his nerdy, geeky looks, but because he called the Flower Scouts cunts.
