Behind the scenes, a drug dealer is looking to score big at the beach...

Tropes seen in this episode:

  • A Lady on Each Arm: Boz has a pair of girls in the backseat of the car with him... and Russell being the unlucky chauffeur.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Boz sets up a beach football game with his friends and Russell. On his signal, the ball is snapped, then Boz and his buddies immediately grab and bury Russell under the sand up to his neck before they take off for the town.
  • Beach Bury: Poor Russell.
  • Beach Episode: Oh, yeah.
  • Broken Tears: After the shower stall incident, Grossie tries to give his nephew advice, but he sobs for his uncle to leave him alone before poor Russell breaks down into tears. However, in the distance, Tina sees this, and starts feeling sorry for the poor schlub.
  • Busman's Holiday : Averted with Grossie, Harlan, and Kathy, but played straight where Ponch and Bobby is concerned.
  • Butt-Monkey: Russell winds up as one, no thanks to his gullible nature by listening to Boz.
  • Convenient Escape Boat: After hopping an All-Terrain Cycle, the drug dealer hops onto a departing barge...
  • Cranky Neighbor: the man raising a lot of noise concerning the property line as well as being armed with an axe, and later, a shotgun.
  • Destination Defenestration: Inverted with Lily, no thanks to her doing the Mushroom Samba on rollerskates. Luckily, Ponch was tailing her on where to find her drug dealer boyfriend and saves her from bleeding to death.
  • Dress Hits Floor: Cora Dwayne does this in defiance to Ponch after he warns her not to.
  • Dr. Feelgood: the eponymous Doc, Lily's boyfriend.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Driven home concerning Lilly (Doc's girlfriend) and Russell.
  • Their Own Worst Enemy: Pluralized. Lily for taking the drug that her drug dealer boyfriend gave her, but Russell compounded this listening to his so-called buddy, Boz, and then taking one of the pills while on a catamaran with Tina.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When Bobby sees Ponch make a motorcycle jump to the barge to collar the wily drug dealer...
    - Bobby (snarking): ... And he calls ME a hot dog!!!
  • Ironic Echo: First from Tina, after seeing Russell gets buried in the sand:
Tina (scolding): Boz, that was mean!
    Boz (smug): Nope, that's funny!
    • And close to the end, where everyone is inside, Russell and Tina are together as Boz is tied up to a surfboard:
Boz (grumpily): You guys, this SO MEAN!
Russell and Tina (laughing together): No, it's FUNNY!
  • I Shall Taunt You: Doc waves bye-bye and later blows a kiss to Ponch as he makes an escape on the barge.
    • Cora Dwayne verbally taunts Ponch after he tells her that the neighbors are complaining about the trespassing on their property, and the nudity going on there, saying "there is strength in numbers" before she disrobes in front of Ponch.
  • Jerkass: Hoo, boy, there's a WHOLE LOT of them.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Even Boz (of all people) agrees that you don't need drugs to have a good time.
  • Mushroom Samba: First Lily, and Russell later on.
  • Oh, Crap!: This one guy in the beginning when they are on the ferry to Ocean City...
(Guy climbs up the ladder near the top of the ferry, holding a cold brew)
Guy (lofty and proud): I claim this ship in the name of Balboa!
Ponch and Bobby immediately whip off the covers of their service bikes, and start gunning their engines!
Guy ''(realizing he's going to catch it and starts backpedaling hard): On second thought... maybe not!
    • ... And then there was the look on the drug dealer's face when Ponch made that jump from the dock to the barge on his motorcycle...
  • Please Put Some Clothes On: Ponch and Bobby tell the nude beach-goers to do this to avoid an arrest right after arresting Cora Dwayne for public nudity.
  • Ramp Jump/Slo-Mo-Big-Air: How Ponch manages to nail the drug dealer on the barge.
  • Smug Snake: Boz, the drug dealer, and Cora Dwayne for trifecta.
  • Shoulders-up Nudity/Toplessness from the Back: After Cora Dwayne snubs Ponch by thinking less of his threat to arrest, she drops her robe right in front of him. BIG MISTAKE.
  • Shower Scene: As Tina and another girl are rinsing themselves off in the outdoor shower from their previous swim at the beach, Boz and Russell are both watching them from above...
  • Shower of Awkward: ...that is, until Boz pushes Russell in, who breaks the shower on the way down as he falls, precipitating a lot of screaming, anger, and harsh words from both girls... and Boz laughing the whole time.
    • However, once Tina sees Russell crack and break down in Broken Tears, even pushing away his own Uncle Grossman when he tried to help, she soon realizes he wasn't to blame for what happened and Boz was, and feels sorry for Russell and the humiliation he must be suffering from at this point.
  • Scenery Censor: At Cora Dwayne's property, the nudists are hidden by big beach umbrellas and portions of moored boats.
  • Stalking Mission: Ponch goes on one to trail Lily, but manages to save her life when she accidentally crashes through a window.
