Recap / Brennus B 002 Rising Stars

Go To

Short Summary

Basil has found team members, and at the same time moves are being made in the super-community. The United Junior Heroes have got two surprising new members of their own and timing couldn't be better (or worse) with an S-class threat approaching.

This arc provides examples of:

  • Artifact Title: The Rabid Eight only have five really six members in their group.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Subverted. The Rabid Eight are in-universe fanboys of the Savage Six, but considering the fact that five members were once killed by a member of the Savage six, it seems they aren't appreciated.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Gloom Glimmer's entrance when the United Junior Heroes are losing against the Rabid Eight.
  • Characterization Marches On: When Osore is introduced, he is able to emote fairly well and even uses the word “dude” when talking. Compare this to later depictions that make him out to be The Stoic with a very formal way of speaking.
  • Cliffhanger: The arc ends with the group discovering that the Spiteborn acre they're in contains a Blossom.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Before she meets him, Polymnia can't bring herself to believe that Brennus is a boy because his ravens were too meticulously crafted.
  • Hive Mind: The basic function of a root is to control this.
  • Not Bad: Vasiliki admits that while Dalia's costume is very Stripperiffic, it does look very good on her.
  • Show Within a Show: Hero-View, a show that covers metahuman news, streams the battle between the United Junior Heroes and the Rabid Eight.
  • Switching P.O.V.: In the first arc, Basil was the only POV we got excluding the interlude and two brief scenes of Mindstar and The Dark. During this arc, the POV starts switching more frequently and randomly to offer different perspectives on major events.
