Recap / Bluey Bin Night

Go To

Bluey, Bingo and Dad always take out the bins. Over a few weeks, Bingo tells Dad about a new kid at kindy who is mean to her and Mum offers some good advice.

Tropes:

  • Bottle Episode: The episode takes place entirely in the front of the Heelers' house over the course of several weeks.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Banjo initially made it a point to call Bingo names, but after she fetched his hat from a puddle after another kid threw it in, Banjo changes his tune and becomes Bingo's friend.
  • The Dog Bites Back: According to Bingo, it's not just her who gets called a "Bo-Bo Head", but also her other classmates. Towards the end, Bingo reveals that one such student's response was to retaliate by throwing Banjo's hat into a puddle, as opposed to Bingo's measured response of ignoring Banjo.
  • Freudian Excuse: Chili deduces that the reason Banjo calls everyone in class (including Bingo) a "Bo-Bo Head" is because he's the new kid at school and is having difficulty making friends.
  • The Ghost: Banjo, Bingo's new kindergarten classmate, is frequently mentioned but never seen.
  • Kick the Dog: During one of their later bin nights, Bingo soberly shares how Banjo made fun of how her limbs were exceptionally "stubby", even for someone her age. This truly chips away at Bingo's self-esteem.
  • Rewatch Bonus: Minor details, such as the growing of plants, help illustrate the passage of time.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: After Banjo hurts Bingo's feelings with how "stubby" her limbs are, the next morning, Chili gives Bingo a heart-to-heart. She admits that when she was Bingo's age, she too had 'stubby' limbs. In fact, all Heelers have stubby limbs. But she also reassures her that despite that, Heelers make up for that with their determination, lifting her daughter's spirits.
