Tracey is at a Lamaze Class with her sister in preparation for the baby's birth. As they prepare to leave, they come across Garth's girlfriend Kimberly, who claims to be visiting an old friend. However, she soon reveals that she's pregnant with Garth's child. Even worse, she had written to Garth in France but got no reply, leading her to take it to mean that he didn't want them in his life. Meanwhile, Dorien has done something very stupid - she's left a horrible message for Richard and his children and she wants it erased. She's also concerned about one of their workers, Tina Randall. Apparently, not only is she lazy, but she's rude, and she wants her fired.

Soon, the sisters reveal to Garth the fact that his girlfriend is pregnant, but Garth reveals that he never got the letters. Meanwhile, Dorien goes to remove the tape, but Richard's daughter refuses to give her the tape and tells her to walk out of her father's life. Dorien manages to get the tape from her and rips it up but Richard shows up and takes the children's side, leading him to dump her.

Meanwhile, the sisters fire Tina, which leads her to try to kill herself. As it turns out, she has been having an affair, and she is being made to reveal it to her criminal husband. Even worse, she's expecting. This tragic tale luckily is enough for the girls to decide to let her stay on. In even better news, Kimberly and Garth make up and they decide to marry. Not so much for Dorien, who is distraught over the day's events.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Alcohol-Induced Stupidity: Dorien drinks a bottle of gin and tonic and sends Richard's children an insulting message to them. Afterward, she got even drunker and announced that she was ending the relationship in insulting terms and called his children the "spawn of Hell". She's embarrassed by this and wishes to erase it.
  • Ass Shove: At one point, Tina threatens to shove a mop under an unnamed person's jacksie.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Garth and Kimberly make up and are due for a marriage, but Dorien breaks up with her new love interest and is clearly distraught over the whole series of events.
  • Blackmail Backfire: Morgan attempts to blackmail Dorien in never seeing her father again, threatening to show him the horrible message she left if she doesn't. However, Dorien simply tricks her into giving her the tape and ripping it up. Too bad that Morgan manages to convince him to break up with her.
  • Boy Meets Girl: According to Sharon:
Sharon: Let's see - boy meets girl, boy and girl have a leg-over session, boy goes to France, girl writes to say she's up the stick, boy doesn't answer, girl faces up to single parenthood and life on the social.
  • Celebrity Crush: The thought of Leonardo DiCaprio causes Sharon to start clenching alongside the expectant mothers.
  • Driven to Suicide: Tina's response to learning that she had been fired is to attempt to throw herself off the building. She doesn't get very far.
Dorien: Oh, terrific, just what we need. Suicidal skivvies!
  • Good Girls Avoid Abortion: It's noted (although not outright stated) that Kimberly considered aborting the baby but decided not to in the end.
  • The Ghost:
    • Ron, Tina's criminal husband.
    • James, who Tina has an affair with.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Sharon and Tracey come in and interrupt Garth and Kimberly kissing.
  • Interrupted Suicide: Tina tries to kill herself, but Sharon and Tracey manage to persuade her to come back in and stop.
  • Irrevocable Message: Dorien's plot this episode involves her trying to delete an embarrassing message she sent to her boyfriend.
  • Lamaze Class: The episode opens on Tracey taking one of these with Sharon.
  • Mistaken for Gay: The person running the Lamaze Class thinks that Sharon and Tracey are a pair of lesbians before Sharon corrects her.
  • Nasal Trauma: Ron once bit off a fellow inmate's nose and ate it.
  • Noodle Incident: Sharon and Tracey once had a fortnight in Torremolinos making love to a lot of men.
  • My Secret Pregnancy: Kimberly attempts to hide her pregnancy from Sharon and Tracey, claiming that she is only in the ante-natal class to visit an old friend and that she had taken a wrong turn. They figure it out pretty quickly.
Kimberly: I was just visiting a friend.
Tracey: So what are you doing in ante-natal?
Kimberly: I think I must have taken a wrong turn at ear, nose, and throat.
Sharon: You don't get to maternity by way of ears and noses, Kimberly. You have to go via gynecology.
Tracey: Come on Kimberly. Something's going on.
Sharon: You're up the stick, ain't ya?
    Kimberly: Yes.
  • One-Shot Character: Tina Randall.
  • Ship Sinking: Richard, Dorien's love interest since late Series 8, breaks up with Dorien.
  • Verbal Backspace: Kimberly calls Tracey old then, realizing what she just said, tweaks it to mean older women.
Kimberly: That's great Tracey. I think it's fantastic that women nowadays can have babies when they're old. (Beat) Older! More mature!
