Handshaken'

After Bill's archrival Joshua mocks him for his handshake, Cricket challenges the bully to a handshaking duel and easily overpowers him, and soon all the power goes to his head.

"Handshaken'" contains examples of:

  • Any Last Words?: Cricket asks Bill, "Any last words?" before their showdown begins. Bill's response is, "Fill my hand, you son of a Bill."
  • Crushing Handshake: Joshua is feared for his handshake, so strong it makes grown men cry. After spending hours hanging from the barn ceiling, Cricket's hand becomes strong enough to crush Joshua's hand, and then proceeds to do the same to everyone else in town... until he's beaten by Bill, whose handshake is even more powerful than Joshua's ever was.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After Joshua crushed Cricket's hand, the latter was able to return the favor after spending hours on holding onto a rope in the barn.
  • Drunk with Power: Beating Joshua quickly goes to Cricket's head, and soon starts terrorizing the citizens of Smalton by crushing their hands. It takes Bill and his own crushing handshake to bring Cricket down to size.
  • Eye Recall: Cricket does this when he remembers Bill backing out of a handshake with Joshua which simultaneously revealed his secret feat of hand strength.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Bill said this to Joshua after nervously refusing to handshake him; it is later revealed in the climax that he did that on purpose to protect his handshake.
    Bill: Oh, no... I don't think that will turn out well. If you'll excuse me, I've got to get our shopping done.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Joshua had this the moment Cricket was about to crush his hand with his powerful handshake.
    • Tilly and Remy after seeing that Cricket was about to use his handshake to hurt everyone's hand.
  • "Pan Up to the Sky" Ending: The episode closes on a pan up to the sunset sky.
  • Pretentious Pronunciation: Joshua insists his name is pronounced "Josh-wa", and not "Josh-ooh-a".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Good Ol' Joe the moment Joshua wanted to shake his hand.
  • Showdown at High Noon: Parodied during Cricket's faceoff between Joshua and his friends, and again between he and Bill in the climax.


Coffee Mates

Unable to juggle her social life with her job at the cafe, Gloria hires her three friends as extra assistance, but things soon take a turn for the worse when their habits get in the way. Meanwhile, Tilly becomes convinced she's getting older and tries to embrace how much youth she has within her.

"Coffee Mates" contains examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: For Gloria and her friends from "Clubbed".
  • Ascended Extra: Gloria's three friends all get big roles here.
  • Brick Joke: The old man Alice encounters at the store appeared again in the cafe.
  • First Gray Hair: Tilly finds a gray hair in her brush and assumes it's hers. She at first tries to act younger than she is, then acting older thinking she should resign herself to being old. In the end, it turns out the gray hair belongs to Dirtbag, who is shedding; then Tilly finds one on Bill's head and tries to pick it off... only to find that it's Bill's, which leaves poor Bill devastated.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    Alice: Youngsters just don't listen to their elders.
    Old Man: Grandchildren, am I right?
    Alice: [walking away] I don't know you.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After struggling to balance her social life with work, Gloria regrets it and decided to put things right.
  • Strike Episode: After Cricket did all the work in the cafe and dealing with everyone's orders, he decided to go on strike until Gloria can help him.
