Big Chill issues a warning to some intruders on his territory.
While transformed as Big Chill, Ben gets progressively more aggressive and doesn't remember anything from the experience. He asks Julie to follow him around and document what he's doing. Also Kevin has to take Gwen to her school's dance.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The entire plot has Ben acting not himself with Big Chill acting aggressive and taking over him at times, with Gwen giving references that it might be Ghostfreak all over again. Then it's revealed that Big Chill wasn't turning evil, rather it was just time for him to prepare a nest for their babies.
  • Big Eater: Once Big Chill takes over, Ben's appetite increases. In human form, he devours an entire jar of pickles, juice and all and immediately wonders if there was a second jar. As Big Chill? He somehow eats an entire carwash as Julie noted.
  • Bittersweet Ending: This episode seems to be a Breather-Filler Episode with a cute ending — though Kevin notes that Ben's unlikely to ever see his Necrofriggian children again. Which ties into the show's themes of growing up, letting go, and learning to stand on your own.
  • Call-Back: Ben voices to Julie his personal worry that Big Chill will go rogue just like Ghostfreak did in the original series. Gwen also references what happened, with Kevin noting that even when he was at his most insane, he never liked Ghostfreak or his abilities that much.
  • Can't Tie His Tie: Given that he spent much of his adolescence on the run or in lockup, Kevin has never had much experience with school dances and struggles with his tie. Ben does it for him.
  • Covered in Gunge: Kevin's tuxedo gets covered in "maggot goo" during his fight with Big Chill.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Gwen and Julie immediately succumb to this upon witnessing the baby Necrofriggians hatching.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Big Chill devours anything and everything metal. Even molten steel doesn't affect him. It's also mentioned that the infant Necrofriggians will spend their time feeding on solar plasma while out in space.
  • Family-Friendly Firearms: A result of Executive Meddling means that the regular cops have access to advanced looking lasers instead of bullets.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Kevin is covered in goo, he specifically calls it maggot goo. Cue the reveal of nuemrous baby Big Chills.
  • Foreshadowing: Ben eating pickles becomes this when one realizes it's a pregnancy craving, courtesy of Big Chill. He also gives good dating advice to Kevin not unlike a parent getting their kid ready for prom.
  • I Am a Humanitarian: Somewhat. Big Chill starts taking a bite out of Kevin when he transforms into metal. Thankfully Kevin turns into stone to counteract it and Big Chill only bit off part of the tuxedo.
  • Mama Bear: When Kevin, Gwen and Julie arrive to help Ben/Big Chill, the latter becomes aggressive and fights to keep them away from their "nest".
  • Metal Muncher: Everytime Ben gets overtaken by Big Chill, he goes on a massive eating spree on anything made out of metal, whether it be solid or a hot liquid. By the end, we find out it's all raw material to build a nest for his offspring.
  • Monster Is a Mommy: Like Ghostfreak's Ectoturnite DNA, Big Chill's Necrofriggian DNA takes over Ben's mind and has him act by its will, even affecting him in human form. This time, though, it's for a much more benign purpose; Big Chill is pregnant and has to lay its eggs, overriding all other thought while Ben is in this form. Once the eggs hatch and the babies leave, Ben goes back to normal.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: When Big Chill encounters humans in his way, he mostly subjects them to a scaring or a bout of Harmless Freezing.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: When Gwen learns from Kevin that Ben gave him dating advice and the tips on yellow rose corsages, she notes that it's not like him.
  • Split-Personality Takeover: Played with. When Ben transforms into Big Chill, he ends up losing all memory of what his alien form did the night before, while Big Chill himself mindlessly devours all the metal he can see, and attacks anyone who comes too close to his nest. That said, this is the only instance of Big Chill actually doing this, and he isn't nearly as possessive as Ghostfreak, with his instincts disappearing at the end of the episode and onwards.
  • Squee: Gwen and Julie do the "Aww" variation when they see Ben's babies hatching.
  • Truly Single Parent: As we find out, Big Chill's race reproduces asexually once every 80 years.
  • Wacky Cravings: Big Chill's metal binge-eating spree is a result of this. Even in human form, Ben gets a massive craving for pickles, down to drinking the brine from the jar.
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: Played for Drama. Ben's transformations into Big Chill in this episode cause him to lose all memory of what he did the night before, which causes him and his friends to start investigating into what's going on between him and Big Chill.
  • Wham Shot: The orbs morphing into...baby Big Chills.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Kevin's reaction to seeing Big Chill's babies hatching is this. Ben himself is utterly embarrassed by what happened once he reverts to normal at the end of the episode.
