  • Arch-Enemy: After Killer Frost is taken away, Batman warns Firestorm to be careful with this kind of enemy.
Jason: Great. Now, she's your ex and your arch-enemy.
    Ronnie: Like there's a difference.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Blue Beetle is giddy to join the Justice League and keeps taking pictures.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Question activates the Boom Tubes just before Darkseid can kill Batman.
  • Blood Knight: Batman mocks Darkseid for being afraid to fight without his god-like abilities. Darkseid is well-aware of what Batman is trying to do, but he says it's been too long since he used his physical strengths and relishes this opportunity. After beating Batman, Darkseid admits that was most exhilarating.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Martian Manhunter, being the by-the-book-character he is, has no time to listen to Blue Beetle's snarky humor, and yells for everyone to focus on devising a plan to combat against Darkseid and his parademon army.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Lampshaded when Darkseid asks if Batman has a clever retort for him. Batman actually doesn't, though, as he's too out of it from the fight.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Ice spends much of the episode convinced the invading Apokaliptians are Greeks.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Batman, being a normal human with no powers to back him up is no match for Darkseid. Question also doesn't fare any better against Darkseid either as he too is a normal human with no powers to help him and takes quite a beating or two from Darkseid.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Blue Beetle's question to Fire's input on her outfit.
Blue Beetle: I wonder if it's short enough?
  • Description Cut: Martian Manhunter's Rousing Speech is immediately followed by the heroes already subdued by the invasion force.
  • Dumped via Text Message: How Ronnie dumped Louise Lincoln. Ronnie insists it was quick and painless, but Batman and Jason chastise this. She remarks she still could've handled it, if she hadn't paid for all their dates.
  • Enemy Mine: Played for laughs. Booster and Guy briefly put their first fight on hold to blast Aquaman for hitting them.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Batman says the oncoming invasion means they have no choice but to form a new Justice League.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The Boom Tubes are used to send the invasion fleet away from Earth.
  • Indy Ploy: With their first plan a bust, Batman says it's time for Plan B: improvise.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Guy points out this was one occasion where Batman wasn't the one to save the day in the end.
  • Let's You and Him Fight:
    • Booster and Guy get into a fight over a particular cabin. Trying to break it up, Aquaman gets hit in the face and decides to fight both of them for it. Then they make the mistake of spilling Martian Manhunter's cookies.
    • It starts to happen again when Guy takes issue with Booster helping himself to the corner piece of some cake.
  • Mythology Gag: The new Leaguers first appear in a silhouetted V-Formation Team Shot and Team Power Walk, echoing the original opening to Justice League.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Darkseid singlehandedly defeats the Justice League and is poised to conquer Earth. He is only thwarted because the Question was operating under the radar.
  • No-Sell: Darkseid absorbs the powers of Fire, Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, Ice, Aquaman, and Blue Beetle and uses their respective powers against them with twice the power.
  • Noodle Incident: Aquaman questions forming a new Justice League after the way the last one ended.
  • Not in the Face!: Booster's only plea while fighting Guy.
  • Not Quite Dead: The Question appeared to die in The Teaser for "The Knights of Tomorrow!", but he's really been alive the whole time and undercover as a Parademon.
  • Not So Above It All: Martian Manhunter is largely professional, but he flips out when fighting heroes spill his cookies.
  • Not So Stoic: Darkseid is quite composed, only showing true anger when Batman gets in one good hit and when his invasion is about to be thwarted.
  • Only Sane Man: Seeing Let's You and Him Fight in action, Batman just sighs in annoyance.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: A team that includes a boisterous Atlantean, an eager fanboy, a vain egotist, a hothead, a ditz, and an outgoing tomboy. Martian Manhunter notes to Batman that this new Justice League is definitely unconventional but still has potential.
  • The Reveal: The Question is still alive, operating undercover in order to defeat the invasion.
  • Rousing Speech: Martian Manhunter delivers one to get the assembled heroes to focus on what really matters instead of their own petty issues. Of course, it doesn't exactly work out in practice.
  • Running Gag: Martian Manhunter and Skeets repeatedly struggle to get the Watchtower's systems fully functional.
  • This Cannot Be!: "Not. Possible!"
  • Underestimating Badassery: Darkseid notes he's The Dreaded precisely because he averts this trope at all times, even when facing a Badass Normal.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: Batman’s elaborately described plan to defeat the invaders crumbles before it can even begin due to Booster texting his publicist, with Kalibak picking up the signal.
  • Villain Respect: After Batman narrowly dodges the Omega Beams, Darkseid admits he's somewhat impressed.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Jason chastises Ronnie for dumping Louise via text and previously having her pay for their dates.
