Recap / Avengers Assemble S 3 E 23 Civil War Part 1 The Fall Of Attilan

Go To

Attilan has made itself home to the surface world and invited new Inhumans to adjust to their new lives and awakened powers. However, Truman Marsh believes that a new registration act is needed to keep them all in line if they are to return to human society.

Unfortunately, Black Bolt's brother Maximus believes that humans and Inhumans shouldn't be together and conspires to destroy the city.

Tropes:

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Maximus manages to level Attilan, and Truman gets ammunition for his idea about the Inhuman Registration Act.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: The heat Inferno accidentally unleashes is too hot for Widow to run around, yet aside from steam coming off her feet whatever they touch she's fine.
  • Destructive Savior: The Avengers save Las Vegas from being blown up! ... at the cost of blacking out the entire city. Tony glibbly says he'll pay for it.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: Attilan's guards suck. Two guards drag Maximus off, but he's able to effortlessly wriggle free from their grasp the minute he's walking past Inferno.
  • Magic Countdown: The Avengers are shown to have twenty-odd seconds left on the timer when Tony says so. In those twenty seconds he's able to scan the area, find the power grid, and send the Hulk to smash it.
  • Noodle Incident: Hawkeye claims that a fight with giant killer robots and a maniac trying to bomb the city into oblivion isn't the worst weekend he's ever had in Las Vegas.
  • No One Could Survive That!: Iron Man and Black Widow think this of the Hulk in the midst of the destruction of Attilan. They're wrong.
  • Police Brutality: The Guardsmen beat up Inferno, who was surrendering peacefully into their custody, right in front of the Avengers. None of them say a word about this.
  • Power Incontinence: Maximus uses his powers to send Inferno's powers, which he already didn't have under total control, into overdrive.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Despite the whole thing about the Inhuman Registration Act, and the events of this episode being his fault, Maximus just disappears after this episode.
