Go To

Release date: November 20, 2020

Opening line: (Dot, off-screen) "Forbidden domain-y!"

Good Warner Hunting: The Warners are stalked by a ruthless hunter with tiny feet and a big grudge.

No Brainer: When Brain can't remember his most brilliant plan yet, he and Pinky break into the NSA to get a recording of him explaining it over the phone.

RalphCam: Ralph falls asleep, and during his nap unwittingly aids the Warners in their battle against a vampire.

Good Warner Hunting:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Chicken Boo, of all people ends up being a Knight of Cerebus.
  • Answer Cut: Dr. Walter Grubb's first scene takes place right after the Warners wonder about the whereabouts of the co-stars.
  • Artistic License – Geography: The Friends fountain is not on the Warner lot. It is actually on the Warner Bros. Ranch (which is also home to the Stars Hollow set from Gilmore Girls).
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Among the co-stars who were angry over Boo hunting them down were Skippy, Mindy, and Squit, the last of whom was holding a club.
  • Body Horror: Chicken Boo emerging from his Dr. Walter Grubb disguise is done in a very disturbing manner.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Dr. Walter Grubb says Goodnight Everybody.
  • Bullying a Dragon:
  • Bus Crash: Subverted. At first, it looked the other co-stars aside from the Warners and Pinky and the Brain were Killed Offscreen by Dr. Walter Grubb, but in the end, they turn out to be fine.
  • The Cameo:
  • Commercial Break Cliffhanger: The first half of the segment ends with Dr. Walter Grubb burning himself up after his failed attempt to capture the Warners and the kids are safe for now until the ads from Hulu play, where they are captured. This makes perfect sense since Hulu runs ads during their shows to make money.
  • Cerebus Retcon: To pretty much any and all Animaniacs content that only had the Warner Siblings and Pinky And The Brain, and no other characters from the original show.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: Or rather, angry co-stars, but this is what happens to Boo at the end of the cartoon.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Dr. Walter Grubb hunted down all the characters and claims that the Warner trio is all he has left, but he clearly didn't account for Pinky and the Brain, who obviously don't appear in this segment.
  • Foreshadowing: Some clues to the fact that Dr. Walter Grubb is really Chicken Boo are his small feet and his big behind.
  • Full-Body Disguise / Latex Perfection: Chicken Boo's disguise as Dr. Walter Grubb: Famous Hunter of Exotic Cartoons, is a far cry from his original wardrobe.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Jealous that he wasn't allowed to be in the reboot, Chicken Boo decided that none of the cast would be.
  • Hulking Out: At the end of the short, Katie Ka-Boom turns into a giant green monster as she attacks Chicken Boo.
  • Hunting Is Evil: In "Good Warner Hunting", Dr. Walter Grubb is a hunter of exotic cartoons who wants the Warners as part of his trophy collection. While initially played for laughs, it becomes disturbing once it becomes clear Grubb has already captured and made horrific trophies of most of the side characters from the original Animaniacs, including humans Mindy, The Mime, Miles Standish, and Katie Kaboom (though they later turn out to somehow be fine, just pissed off). Doubly so when Grubb is revealed to be Chicken Boo, himself a side character.
  • If I Can't Have You…: A variant. Chicken Boo's entire mindset is that if he can't be in the reboot, then no one can.
  • I Knew It!: In-Universe. Dot and Yakko knew that Dr. Walter Grubb was Chicken Boo the whole time.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Dr. Walter Grubb. There's a lot of levity to the character and he fails against the Warners as much as you would expect... For most of the episode. His methods may not mean much, but his intentions are played dead serious and the latter half of the episode shows him having stuffed and mounted nearly the entire cast of the original series, with the Warners coming perilously close to meeting the same fate. And while The Reveal does dial back his threat level a bit, it doesn't change the fact that he was hunting down his former co-stars and leaving them in an And I Must Scream situation.
  • Literal Metaphor: After the Warners (seemingly) get hit by tranquilizer darts, Yakko declares "Time to hit the hay". He then punches a hay bale into the shape of a bed.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: At the end of the short, while Chicken Boo is walking down the street, his theme song briefly plays, before cutting short when the other co-stars show up.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Squit of The Goodfeathers was always the Perpetual Smiler and Nice Guy of the group. So when you see him utterly pissed-off at Chicken Boo, and brandishing a weapon, needless to say, Boo is dead meat!
    • This is the first time we see Mindy angry.
  • Oh, Crap!: Chicken Boo's appropriate reaction when he sees the other co-stars behind him.
  • The Reveal: Dr. Walter Grubb is Chicken Boo, in arguably his best disguise yet. He had hunted down the original cast of Animaniacs one by one as revenge for not being allowed in the reboot.
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: The Reveal that Dr. Walter Grubb was Chicken Boo is played out like the ending of a Scooby-Doo episode when the villain is unmasked.
  • Self-Deprecation: The show makes fun of itself for not having as many characters as the original show. It also pokes at Chicken Boo's lack of popularity on the original show.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Suddenly Shouting: Yakko does this when he talks about how disliked Chicken Boo was in the original series.
Yakko: I can see why you've never heard of him. He was the least popular character on the whole show.
Dr. Walter Grubb: Um… well, I'm sure he wasn't the least
Yakko: BOTTOM OF EVERY FAN LIST!
  • Suddenly Speaking: Even though it was only while he was in disguise, this is the first time Chicken Boo actually talks.
  • Take That!: The episode takes a brief potshot at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
  • Taxidermy Terror: The co-stars of the Warners from the original series appear to be stuffed at Grubb's mansion, much to their terror. Though the ending shows they aren't actually dead.
  • Villainous Breakdown: The Warner Siblings push Grubb’s buttons by going on about how Chicken Boo was the least popular character in the original series, and wasn’t allowed in the reboot. This causes the hunter to have a meltdown, leading to The Reveal.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Neither the Godpigeon nor the Flame (who were seen mounted) are part of the mob at the end. Also, Stinkbomb D. Bassett, Walter Wolf, Sid the Squid, and Beanie the Bison were mentioned but not seen.
  • The Worf Effect: Chicken Boo managed to inflict this on Slappy, a Karmic Trickster known for singlehandly defeating adversaries on a regular basis.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Chicken Boo has Mindy and Skippy mounted on his wall. Except, he really doesn't.

Tropes found in "No Brainer":

  • Easy Amnesia: The inciting incident of the short; after a car chase with the Yakuza ends with a crash that puts him in a coma for two days, Brain wakes up to find he's suffered from short-term amnesia, meaning he can't recall his newest plan.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Brain versus the Yakuza as the episode starts with the latter trying to steal a world-domination plan from the former.
  • I Gave My Word: Pinky badgers Brain into stopping to find Jenny the fern, because they promised Snowden they'd find her.
  • Literal Metaphor: Brain calls Pinky to claim he's come up with a plan to take over the world so good, every Yakuza and their mother is out to steal it from him. Sure enough he says this as a car of Yakuza and another car of the mothers of said Yakuza are in hot pursuit.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: When Brain finally hears the NSA's recording of his plan, it turns out it was to obtain Edward Snowden's rare fern to derive a neurotoxin from it. This is after having returned said fern to Snowden in exchange for him helping them break into NSA headquarters to obtain the recording.
  • Shout-Out: Pinky is shown playing a game about an Italian Moustache guy.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Brain looks up information on the NSA guard chasing him and discovers the man has claustrophobia, which Brain exploits by luring him into an elevator, causing the guard to freak out and curl up in the Troubled Fetal Position.

Tropes found in "RalphCam":

  • Silence Is Golden: As it's only security footage, there's no dialogue, music, or sounds (aside from some fast-fowarding and glitching effects on the video feed).
  • Strolling Through the Chaos: The whole time the Warners dealt with the vampire, Ralph was fast asleep.
  • Vampire Hunter: The Warners' antics accidentally free a vampire in the beginning of the episode. The rest of the short shows their misadventures making makeshift vampire gear and hunting down the bloodsucker - using Ralph as bait!
