Basic Trope: A work gets more sexual content than it originally had.

  • Straight: The New Charles and Diane features quite a bit more Fanservice than the original series Charles and Diane did.
  • Exaggerated: Charles and Diane was completely G-rated, but The New Charles and Diane is a hardcore porno.
  • Downplayed:
    • The New Charles and Diane simply has more sex jokes and innuendos than the original series.
    • A few characters are given some sexually-themed upgrades, but nothing other than that.
  • Justified:
    • Reflecting real-life changes in sexual mores, the characters are able to be more open about their sexuality, allowing for the exploration of more sexual themes, as well as enabling the characters to dress less "modestly" in public than before.
    • In the original series, the eponymous Charles and Diane were Just Friends with a certain amount of subtextual Unresolved Sexual Tension. In the new series, they're an Official Couple and free to behave like one.
    • The New Charles and Diane (more specifically, the version listed in Exaggerated above) is a porn parody of the original Charles and Diane.
  • Inverted: Tamer and Chaster and/or Lighter and Softer
  • Subverted: The extra fanservice was just Early-Installment Weirdness.
  • Double Subverted: Which eventually returns.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: Some episodes have more sexual content than others.
  • Averted: The New Charles and Diane has no more or less sexual content than Charles and Diane.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Charles and Diane moved to a nudist community in the Grand Finale of the original show.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: "No, we're not going that route!"
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Why do so many works assume that we're only going to find them interesting if they add some random fanservice?"
