Basic Trope: An unpopular girl used to be friends with the Alpha Bitch before she got popular.
- Straight: Nerdy Alice was friends with Brittany before she got popular, but now the latter picks on her.
- Exaggerated: Brittany does everything in her power to make sure no one has any idea that she and Alice used to be friends, such as photoshopping her out of old photos of them together, pretending like she doesn't exist even while standing right in front of her, and hires a hitman to kill anyone who remembers they were ever friends in the first place.
- Downplayed: Alice mentions she and Brittany used to hang out, and Brittany occasionally glares or looks disgusted with Alice the few times they interact but otherwise doesn't go out of her way to antagonize her.

- Brittany became friends with girls who told her to ditch Alice.
- Brittany became popular and this gone to her head to the point of ditching Alice.

- Nerdy Alice is somehow friends with Alpha Bitch Brittany.
- Brittany used to be friends with Alice, and is now either Lovable Alpha Bitch or downright Spoiled Sweet, while Alice grew into an Insufferable Genius who couldn't stand Brittany joining the cheer squad and having other friends besides her.
- Or, Alice used to be Brittany's Beta Bitch until she had a Heel–Face Turn.
- Gender Inverted: Alan used to be friends with Brad, who ended up joining the football team and now torments him on a daily basis.
- Subverted: Alice and Brittany pretend not to like each other in public but are very friendly in private.
- Double Subverted: ...But Brittany is only pretending to be polite in private as part of a plan to learn Alice's secrets and humiliate her in front of the entire school.
- Parodied: Alice and Brittany declare how they will always be best friends forever while wearing matching shirts with each other faces on them seconds before a cheer squad come up and asks Brittany to join, at which point she tears off her shirt, revealing a shirt that says "Queen Bee" in rhinestones underneath, before pushing Alice into a locker and joining them without a second thought.

- Deconstructed: Longtime classmates of Brittany see how they treated Alice once she became popular, and she's secretly hated outside of her own Girl Posse, who also are not really close to her, lest she turns on them the same way she did to Alice. As such, Brittany has no real friends and is incredibly lonely. Seeing the 'uncool' Alice have friends who genuinely seem to care about her makes Brittany so jealous that her treatment of Alice just gets worse and worse until she alienates herself from the entire student body.
- Reconstructed: Alice decides to try and reconnect with Brittany, and realizes things weren't exactly as she remembers: while Brittany did become a bit of a snob after becoming a cheerleader, Alice also distanced herself because of belief in this trope, and part of the reason Brittany is so mean is because of resentment. They admit that Both Sides Have a Point when it comes to their broken friendship and tries to make amends with the other. While they may not become friends again, they do at least learn to tolerate each other, although this doesn't keep Brittany from making snarky comments at Alice's expense now and then, or Alice responding back in kind.
- Played for Horror: An incredibly tense moment leads to Brittany ultimately expressing to Alice what she always resented and/or envied about her, which is why she's even willing to fight and/or kill her to prove she's the better girl.
- Implied: Alice mysteriously knows several quite a but about Britany's embarrassing secrets, refusing to divulge where she got the information.
