Basic Trope: A character's species (or, a species based on a character) is named after them.
- Straight: On planet Troperia, the two main humanoid species are the all-female Alicites, and their male counterparts, the Bobicons.
- Exaggerated: Other species include the Charlians, Bellarians, Carols, Karenites, Agustacans, the Thilgs (who the Ambiguously Human Thilg, turns out to be) and the Always Chaotic Evil Evulzes.
- Justified:
- The Alicites and Bobicons were discovered by space explorers, Alice and Bob, and are named after them, do to their coincidental similarities to them.
- Every member of this species has the same given name, so why not use it as the species name?
- The species were named based on their personalities which are on a genetic level.
- Each species was named after its progenitor.
- Inverted:
- Averted: Nobody's species is named after them.
- Enforced: Alice's species was originally unnamed. So when it was finally time to name them, the best they could do is name them after her.
- Lampshaded: "So wait a minute Alice. Your species are called the 'Alicites'? So, did you come first, or did your species?" "Yeah, you're right, kind of a chicken egg thing." Alice then asks "What's a chicken?"
- Subverted: The name of the two species was always "Alicite" and "Bobicon". "Alice and Bob" being the two specimens' given name was just a coincidence.
- Double Subverted: The first members of their respective species were named "Alice" and "Bob" respectively. Hence, they are named after them.
- Parodied: Humans are referred to as "Adams" if male, and "Eves" if female.
- Deconstructed: ???
- Reconstructed: ???
- Implied: It isn't outright stated that Alice's species is also named "Alice", or "Alicite", but her hometown on Troperia is named "Alicopolis".
