Pantheon / GUAN Gaea's Avengers

Go To

The militant faction of the GUAN, Gaea's Avengers are the most willing to resort to violence in order to protect nature. While all share a reverence for nature, many come off as villainous to the other members of the alliance and often butt heads on their methods. Others want to protect certain parts of nature over a more general role as protector and avenger. Some are more motivated by anger at intrusive humans than anything.

Melkor is concerned that some of the evil gods might prefer this house assuming they're eco-friendly. Of course, those with that mindset were already unlikely to join the Grand United Alliance of Evil anyway as eco-friendly villains tend not to see themselves as evil.

Lead Avengers

Battra, Avatar of Nature's Wrath (Black Mothra, Battle Mothra, Bad Mothra, Battora)

  • Greater God
  • Symbol: A sihoulette of himself
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Reason for joining: To fulfill its goal as protector of the Earth and nature.
  • Dedication to Nature: Extreme. Battra exists to protect nature, and will attack mankind for disrespecting and defiling it.
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Absolute. Battra exists to protect her and her natural order.
  • Threat level: High; Battra's one tough Kaiju, as Mothra and Godzilla can attest to.

Zygarde, Collective Deity of Adaptation Expansion (The Order Pokémon, Squishy, Z1, Z2)

  • Quasideities (Zygarde Cell), Demideities (Zygard Core), Lesser Deity (10% Zygarde), Intermediate Deity (50% Zygarde), Greater Deity (Complete Zygarde)
  • Symbol: A green hexagon
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral
  • Serves as the Number Two under Battra, and somewhat of a Morality Chain monitoring the faction through its many cells.
  • Reason for joining: To maintain the balance of the natural order and eliminate forces that'd disrupt it.
  • Dedication to Nature: Very high-it's his job to protect nature. However he only intervenes when necessary
  • Loyalty to Gaea: High; Zygarde is Gaea's Pokemon partner, after all.
  • Threat level: Depends on the form. The Cells are no threat and the Core doesn't have much power. 10% Zygarde is average, 50% Zygarde medium-high and Complete Zygarde is definitely high.

Nature's Wrath

Black Arachnia, Goddess of Spider Swarms (Broodmother, Broodmama)

  • Lesser Goddess
  • Symbol: A web with spiders crawling on it.
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil
  • Reason for joining: To protect her spider babies and devour those who threaten her spawn.
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Low. She's in it to create safe environments for her children and crush those who get in the way, not because she agrees with Gaea. She does have a certain respect for the Earth Mother, mainly because she's a vengeful mother as well.
  • Threat level: High. She has an army of spider children and wields toxic poisonous bites. Plus she's genuinely intimidating.

Mem Aleph, Goddess of Villains With Motherly Names

  • Greater Goddess (Overdeity in her Empty form)
  • Symbol: A pitch black globe
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil in actions, True Neutral in intentions (officially Light-Neutral or Neutral-Neutral)
  • Reason for joining: Remake the Earth and Kill All Humans so nature can never be despoiled again
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Very high. They're fundamentally the same entity, though she's a lot more personally active.
  • Threat level: Very high. She may not be the literal Earth like Gaea, but is as much Mother Nature as she is. Extreme in her Empty form

Moby-Dick, Divine Animal Nemesis (The White Whale)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A white fin with spears in it
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Reason for joining: Promised protection from whalers and given the resources to better fight off hunters
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Low. Moby Dick is still a wild sperm whale and it doesn't care for Gaea's grander goals, or the human deities allied with the GUAN. Still, it knows that nature being protected is beneficial for it and doesn't like the thought of bossy humans messing with nature.
  • Threat level: Medium-high. Moby Dick is a tough cetacean who ultimately defeated Captain Ahab, and has sunk many whaling vessels. Though it's still a sperm whale...we think.

Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, Patron Goddess of Garden Garments and Evil Gardens (Poison Ivy, The Green Queen, The Guardian of The Green, Paula Irving, Ivy Pepper, Red - by Harley Quinn)

  • Intermediate Goddess
  • Symbol: Her Garden-Inspired Lair And Her Costume
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil (as a villainess), Chaotic Neutral (as an anti-heroine)
  • Reason for joining: To protect her beloved plants, which the GUAN has promised to guard them with her
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Medium-high. While she doesn't care much about animal life like Gaea may want, she is a dedicated guardian of plants and bound to guard the Green.
  • Threat level: Medium-high. Poison Ivy has great control of plants and even more knowledge about them, and she's just as skilled at seduction and alluring people to her side/lowering their defenses.

Ra's al Ghul, God of Immortals Who Fear Death (Rā's al Ghūl, The Demon's Head)

  • Intermediate God
  • Symbols: A Pair Of Crossed Scimitars
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil, acts Lawful Evil
  • Reason for joining: To serve his eco-terrorist goals of purging most of humanity so nature can be restored.
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Medium-high. Gaea is and represents nature, and has promised to help with restoring endangered species. However he often butts heads with others in the GUAN, and his fear of death can override his nobler motives.
  • Threat level: High. Ra's Al Ghul is a brilliant and charismatic chessmaster, who's League of Assassins has a large influence across the world. And thanks to the Lazarus Pits it's hard to put him down for good even outside of the Trope Pantheon.

The Vashta Nerada, Divine Swarm of Deadly Darkness (Piranhas of the Air, "The Shadows that melt the flesh")

  • Quasideities individually (can affect Lesser Deities)
  • Symbol: A second shadow
  • Alignment: True Neutral (just don't piss them off)
  • Reason for joining: To protect forests like the ones they inhabit.
  • Loyalty to Gaea: Medium. They're naturally motivated to protect nature, mainly trees, and Gaea has promised them that. However they aren't all that agreeable and tend to stay away from their fellow GUAN members.
  • Threat level: Medium-high. Most dangerous as a collective, their ability to devour flesh within seconds and ability to live in any shadow and darkness makes them an opponent you can't conventionally fight. They can't operate under light, though.
