Here I am, here I stand
Nothing left to say
My destiny will stay with me in sorrow
Here I am, here I stand
Redemption for my sins
Sign of the cross can't halt my way
Follow me
"Follow Me"

Serenity is an Austrian symphonic Power Metal band, which was originally formed back in 2001. They became a more stable group with a consistent line-up in 2004, when it also began using more progressive and power influences than earlier. They have defined their genre with more melodic and symphonic metal elements.

Most of their music focuses on important historical figures and events, including Sir Francis Drake, Marco Polo, Galileo, Beethoven, and Napoleon. They currently have produced seven studio albums and two demos.

Not to be confused with a movie of the same name, though, the band was named after it.

Not so horrible history tropes!

  • Blood Bath: "Wings of Madness" is depicted to Elizabeth Báthory and her husband, sucessfull general Ferenc Nádasdy, and the music video features the eponimous blood bath.
  • The Casanova: "The Chevalier" is literarly about the trope namer.
  • Concept Album: most of them to some degree. Though, starting from "Codex Atlanticus" they dedicate each new album to one historical figure.
  • Horrible History Metal: all of their songs are related to history, thanks to the vocalist being a history professor. Though, it is somehow zigzagged, as they have a bunch of songs not about wars and even a full album about Leonardo da Vinci.
  • Lighter and Softer: "Warkings", a side project of vocalist Georg Neuhauser. A bunch of musicians dressed as historical characters play the songs inspired by history movies with videos featuring things like Black Knight vampire bodyguarding the crusader queen. Not lighter in music terms, though, with Thrash Metal influences and occasional harsh vocals.
  • Renaissance Man: the whole "Codex Atlanticus" album is based on the biography of Leonardo da Vinci.
