Ferry and their songs provide examples of the following tropes:
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The Robot Girl in "MACROAPOCALYPSE".Cut down the telephone wiresBring down the power linesI will send my hellfireTo you through wifi
- Altum Videtur: "Hack Writer" includes several verses in Latin. They are quotations from the infamous poem "Catullus 16", which consists mostly of a Cluster F-Bomb.
- Ambiguous Gender: Ferry has made a point of not revealing their gender, no matter how much their fans try to persuade them to.
- Art Evolution: Their art, music composition, and animation has noticeably improved over time.
- Bilingual Bonus: Many of their songs include lines in Russian, both in the lyrics and the videos.
- Deal with the Devil: A common theme in their songs.
- "Mr. Fox and the Disheartened Girl" involves the titular girl making one with Mr. Fox in order to commit suicide. She ends up regretting it, but by then it's too late.
- In "Hack Writer", the Writer makes a deal with the demon Apollo (no relation to the Greek god of the same name) in order to find inspiration. Again, it doesn't work out too well.
- In "The Faulty Feline Philosophy", the protagonist makes one and gains nine lives to use as she pleases. In the end, she quickly wastes all of them and dies.
- I'm a Humanitarian: One interpretation of "Samara 1921" is that the singer killed and ate his own brother during a severe famine.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Mr. Fox and Apollo.
- No Name Given: Many of their characters don't have official names.
- Ripped from the Headlines: Several viewers of "Mr. Fox and the Disheartened Girl" immediately pointed out that it seems to be based on the Blue Whale Challenge, a social network scare originating in Russia in 2016 involving a "game" challenging youths to self-harm and eventually commit suicide.
- Stepford Smiler: "happy girl".
- The Un-Smile: Their Author Avatar wears this as its default expression.
