When boy meets serial killer
Just When I Thought I Came Here To Die (Shi ni Kita to Omottara) is a BL comedy-slasher one-shot created by Matsukura Yuuko in 2019.
Josh Turner is ready to end his life after it suddenly went down the drain and found an abandoned house on the mountainside to do so. At least that's what he thought before finding himself face-to-face with the house owner, a hulking bag-face serial killer dubbed The Master, who proceeded to brandish his cleaver and... cut the noose to save Josh's life.
And thus began the wacky romance between the two most unlikely of people.

- Abduction Is Love: Within the next week of staying with The Master, Josh gets oddly cozy and genuinely falls in love with the serial killer, not minding the mass murders he commits on a daily basis. Even the narrator outright states he has Stockholm Syndrome.Josh: [Upon seeing The Master brutally slaughter a group of teens for harassing a kid] "He's a really good guy."
- All There in the Manual: Supplementary materials reveal additional facts that were not disclosed in the story such as their heights and Josh being Bisexual.
- Beast and Beauty: Josh is a fairly good-looking young man who gained the affection of The Master, a burly Sackhead Slasher who let's just say isn't easy on the eyes when unmasked. However, Josh grew to love him regardless and the two began a healthy relationship shortly after.
- Berserk Button: The Master doesn't take too kindly on those who prey on the weak as it reminds him of his unhappy childhood and starts his vicious onslaught on the teenagers when one of them calls the young boy they are tormenting "ugly". He refuses to relent until their bloodcurdling screams of mercy are replaced with pools of actual blood.
- Born Unlucky: Josh is described to have rotten luck which is evidenced by getting fired, dumped by his girlfriend after proposing and encountering a serial killer on the same day (Although that last one turns out to be a blessing in disguise).
- Death Seeker: Josh was initially one after his company fired and his girlfriend dumped him on the same day, going all the way to a secluded house on a mountain to hang himself. As luck would have it, Josh encounters the Master and after staying with him for a while, he eventually falls in love with the Serial Killer and found his reason to live.
- Disproportionate Retribution: The Master saw some teenagers mercilessly bully and harassed a kid out of his money in front of his house, so he mercilessly ended their lives in a screaming splatterfest.
- Driven to Suicide:
- Josh was fired from his company without warning and cruelly dumped by his girlfriend on the same day which he took as a sign to hang himself. Luckily, his efforts were stopped by The Master in the nick of time.
- The Master had attempted to do so in the past ashamed of his hideous appearance and had written a suicide note to his parents but didn't go through with it.
- Hemo Erotic: We found out what The Master's kink is when Josh accidentally steps on a bottle and sprays fake blood all over his Naughty Nurse Outfit. The former's first reaction is to push the latter down and have his way with him immediately after being turned on (Josh doesn't mind this, however).
- Hypocritical Humor: Josh tries roleplaying as a sexy nurse but The Master claims he doesn't have any weird kinks. Cue Josh accidentally spraying fake blood on himself which was more than enough for The Master to be instantly turned on, ripped off Josh's outfit and have intense passionate sex.
- Meaningful Name: Josh can mean "to tease", he has a playful attitude around The Master and doesn't mind dressing up as a sexy nurse to arouse him, while his last name " Turner" refers to him turning over a new leaf after finding a new job and boyfriend.
- Minimalist Cast: The story focuses on the main couple with the gang of teenagers mauled by The Master, Josh's girlfriend and his coworker only briefly appearing.
- Naughty Nurse Outfit: Josh can pull off the outfit well, dressing in a miniskirt and garter belt stockings, in hopes to aroused his boyfriend but only when he accidentally got covered in fake blood that he really turned on The Master.
- Off with His Head!: One of the teens bullying the child gets a geyser of blood for a head, kickstarting The Master's massacre of them.
- One Head Taller: Josh only reaches up to The Master's shoulders, best exemplified by their official heights with a whopping twenty-three-centimeter difference.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: The Master really doesn't want anyone to know his real name, not even Josh, and thus goes by his slasher moniker.
- Spit Take: Wondering what his colleagues were terrified about, Josh takes a sip of his coffee and finds The Master standing right at the entrance of his new office holding a flower bouquet to surprise him. He was surprised all right as Josh spat out his coffee in shock.
