Wait, is this just a lewd parody of Magiranger?

In our modern times science and technology are what rule the world, causing beliefs and magic to slowly fade into obscurity. Not content with this fate, several groups of magical Fae unite under the banner of Elven Prince Tethas as the Fae Invasion Forces to reclaim the hold they once had on the world. But humanity is prepared. A secret government group known as Project MTR has managed to combine technology and magic into Magitech to access the same powers of conceptualization as the fae to combat them. Five women were chosen to become the MagiTech Rangers and fight the FIF, as they make their first moves on the town of Cold Iron.

Cyber Spell Force: MagiTechRanger! (often abbreviated as just MagiTechRanger or MTR) is a web original story heavily based off of Power Rangers- or Super Sentai-series that incorporates TF/MC-themes. Aside from the mainline set of chapters it also includes two side stories: MTR Bad Ends, a series of AU stories in which the MagiTechRangers lose to assorted fae villains, and Cold Iron Winterization Anthology, which features canon stories of civilians falling to various fae ploys. It’s being written by DrgnmastrAlex with help of artificialArtificer and can be found on DeviantArt here.

This work contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: The MagiTechRangers, obviously.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Both of the existing filler episodes focus on Silver Knight while she is barred from fighting the Rangers.
  • Amazon Brigade: The MagiTech Rangers entirely consist of females.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: The Winterization Anthology, as well as Bad End Stories not based on canon chapters, but the main focus on the respective characters who end up turned into fae.
    • Despite being based on canon chapters, the Faetex Special Bad End begins by introducing us to the at this point unknown character of Lily Gaultier.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Bad End Stories, as the name suggests, feature the Rangers losing to its respective focus villain.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Pretty much the state you’ll find most fae-kin and fae-touched in.
  • By The Power Of Grey Skull: The Rangers' transformation phrase, "Conceptualize! MagiTech [their color]!"
  • The Casino: The “Faire Play” casino introduced in Chapter 28b.
  • Color-Coded Characters: A necessity in Super Sentai/Power Ranger stories, as expected each Ranger is named after the color they represent.
  • Cosmic Retcon: The climax of The Movie has the Lapingers destroying the Guardian Tree, which would have released enough conceptual energy and magic to annihilate the town. Still following its directive to protect the city, the tree accomplished this by sending the town a few months into the past, though not its actual past, but rather an alternate version of the world in which monster races and magic are much more common and seen as normal, with only select characters being aware of the discrepancies to varying effects. This event is referred to in-universe as the “Conceptual Singularity”. Word of God confirms this was done to better facilitate potential crossovers and to create scenarios that allow to explore more of the world.
  • Classified Information: Dr. Bohra keeps most secrets about MagiTech on a need-to-know basis and to her nobody has yet shown enough merit to be considered for those, not even her own daughter.
  • Forced Transformation: The Rangers, as well as numerous civilians, are often subjected to those when being turned into fae-touched.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Many of the Bad Ends with Kyoko brainwashing the reader into her loyal thrall, often using methods tying into the story.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: While the members of Project MTR are among those aware of the changes brought by the Conceptual Singularity, they have no recollections of the events leading to it or all the fae ploys they learned of.
  • Medium Awareness: Several of the fae are aware that they're characters in a story and like to address the readers directly, particularly in side stories, or reference non-canon events that happened in those.
  • Mind Control: Consistently employed by the fae, fae-kin, fae-touched and even some no fae characters.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Fae-kin transformations are usually done by changing how a person perceives themselves.
  • Monster of the Week: Each story chapter usually features a unique fae or fae-kin the Rangers have to fight.
  • Multiple Endings: The Bad End Stories all feature alternate endings to the story of the Rangers and are stated to be considered as canon as the main plot.
  • The Psycho Rangers: In a unique twist, the Faetex arc features most of the Rangers being turned into MagiLatex Rangers, evil parodies of themselves.
  • Rage Against the Author: Early on in the Bad End series it's revealed that Kyoko has already brainwashed the author and uses them as her writing Story Slave.
  • Reforged into a Minion: Almost every chapter you can expect at least one of the Rangers to be turned into a fae-touched minion.
  • Safely Secluded Science Center: Barely anyone knows where the Project MTR base is located, not even many of its staff.
  • Story Arc: Unlike many of its contemporaries, MagiTechRangers features one ongoing main plot, though the author likes to include multi-chapter mini-arcs that center around one specific conflict.
    • The Card Game Tournament arc (Chapters 4 - 9)
    • The Faetex arc (Chapters 15 - 18)
    • The White Wedding arc (Chapters 29 - 31)
  • Super Mode: Daimon/Delusion Trigger allow the specific Ranger to enter a form in which they gain additional powers based on their personalities and interests.
  • Turning Back Human: After being beaten a fae-kin and its fae-touched usually return back to human.
  • Unwilling Roboticisation: Both fae-kin Tsuya and Kyoko-bot Prime are able to turn their victims into fittingly-themed robots against their will.
  • Wedding Episode: The White Wedding arc is centered around Prince Tethas' attempt to marry Marital Bliss/Tina Gutierrez.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 18: The climax of the Faetex has Blue and a properly joined Gold go up against the MagiLatex Rangers, forcing the former to reveal her Daimon Trigger.
    • Movie: Spring's Verdant Stasis Part 3: Kyoko and the Rangers team up against Hana's Spring court and after several hard fights (one of which having Lovelace realize her love for Bohra) the Lapingers defeat Hana and in the process release enough conceptual energy to cause a Cosmic Retcon and create a world where supernatural occurrences are commonplace.
    • Chapter 31: The climax of the White Wedding arc has Kyoko team up with the Rangers against Tethas, only to take over the FIF after their victory and keep the still-transformed Jaime for herself. While an emotionally broken Tina swears vengeance on the kitsune, we see Louisa Faire and an unknown princess offer alliances with the fae.
