Heartwarming / Rocketman (2019)

• Most scenes with Elton and Bernie in it. The two hit it off rather well and so quickly when they met and have been an inseparable pair…even to this day.
  • The movie itself states they’ve been music partners for decades and haven’t had a single argument with each other since.
• When Elton and Bernie meet the soul band Elton had been touring with earlier, the member Elton had an affair with humorously exposes that Elton is gay, to the latter's initial dread. As it turns out, the group and Bernie are fully accepting and even encouraging of his sexuality, which convinces him to come out to Arabella. Though this transitions into a funny moment when we see the results of his revelation to her.
  • From this point, Bernie is the only main character in the film who we see handle Elton's sexuality in a mature and sensitive manner. Though he is initially surprised by the revelation, he quickly says it doesn't matter to him. Even when Elton tries to kiss him later, he lets him down very kindly.
  Bernie: I do love you, mate. Just not that way.
  • Elton himself acknowledges after this scene that Bernie was like the brother he always wanted.
• The movie doesn't dwell on him but Reggie's stepfather, in spite of being a doormat to Sheila, is an infinitely more supportive and attentive father than Stanley. He's even the one who helps encourage Reggie into a musical career. And during the scene where he and his mother snap at each other, the stepfather is the one trying to express concern that Reggie's lifestyle is killing him.
• The entire I'm Still Standing song sequence where Elton starts off softly and slowly to the point of almost hesitant due to being the first time he sings after leaving Rehab, but becomes more upbeat until the sequence shifts to the classic music video.
• After seeing all of his struggles and betrayals throughout his life, it's heartwarming to see the film concluding with the notes that the real-life Elton is sober, healthy, and happily married with children, finally having found the love he was searching for.
