- Actor-Shared Background: Between both Elton John as the singer, the in-universe character in the film and his voice actor in the Japanese dub, Subaru Kimura, since the latter is also a singer by his own right. The only main difference is, while Elton John is a pop singer, Kimura mainly sings rap.
- Approval of God: Elton John is a producer on the film. He encouraged Taron Egerton to put his own spin on his characterization and singing and loved his performance.
- Banned in China:
- It was initially banned in Russia, before it was later announced that it will receive a release with all mentions of homosexuality and drugs cut.
- The film was banned from importation in Samoa due to homosexual scenes that are in violation of Samoan Christian tradition.
- Dawson Casting: Egerton plays the 17-year-old Elton, although he doesn't do so for the entire movie. The movie Elton quickly grows into adulthood, until this is even Inverted when Egerton (at 28/29 years old) plays Elton at a much older 42. Naturally, heaps of make-up, prosthetics, and styling are used to achieve these.
- Deleted Role: Rob Delaney was going to appear as a One-Scene Wonder as Elvis but the scene was cut.
- Executive Meddling: Inverted. Sir Elton John used his power as executive producer to make sure his Dark and Troubled Past wouldn't be sanitized for the big screen.
- Fake Brit: Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton's mother.
- Production Posse: Matthew Vaughn directed Taron Egerton in the Kingsman films, with Elton John appearing in the sequel. Also, it was Vaughn who convinced Dexter Fletcher to cast Egerton as the lead when they respectively produced and directed Eddie the Eagle.
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: Kit Connor, who played the child Elton, came out as bisexual in 2022.
- Rotoscoping: The “I’m Still Standing” number is the original music video albeit with Egerton digitally inserted over Elton. The original 16 mm negatives were scanned and then digitally rotoscoped.
- Similarly Named Works: Shares its title with Disney's RocketMan, although the latter is in two stuck words.
- What Could Have Been:
- Justin Timberlake and Tom Hardy were originally attached to portray Elton John before the casting of Taron Egerton. Timberlake previously played Elton John in the Music Video for "This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore". Hardy dropped out of the project due to various scheduling commitments, being considered "too old" for the role and on the fact that he was going to be lip-syncing throughout the entire movie.
- Dexter Fletcher briefly considered having Rami Malek make a cameo as Freddie Mercury after taking over direction for Bohemian Rhapsody, but ultimately dismissed it as too gimmicky.
- The "Bennie and The Jets" scene, both on-stage and the nightclub, were meant to be longer.
