After King Shining Armor and Queen Cadance praise Flurry Heart for finding the elements, they apologize for treating her too much like a princess and allow her to stay in Ponyville for the whole summer.
As Twilight watches her niece celebrate her victory with Spike and the new Elements of Harmony, she hears the voice of the Spirit of Harmony speak to her.

She goes on to explain Rainbow Dash chose Ponyville because she wanted to be loyal to her friends and if she hadn't she wouldn't receive the key necessary to defeat Tirek. When Stormy asks what this has to do with his mother quitting the Wonderbolts, Flurry says she did because she loves her children and Rainbow Dash adds if she hadn't done so she would not be able to spend time with her kids. Hearing this makes Storm Streak understand Rainbow's decision to quit the Wonderbolts, and he gives a heartfelt apology to Spitfire.

Stormy's crush on Somnambula, while also a big source of comedy in the story, is also very sweet and is essentially the equivalent of Spike having a crush on Rarity in canon. Also, Somnambula is never shown to be annoyed by the young colt's attraction to her, taking it all in stride and managing to bond with him on their adventure.
After learning of what happen to Anatankha in the past, with her being mocked by all the other sphinxes because of her loss against Somnambula, Flurry Heart and her friends, help her have a Heel–Face Turn, officially reforming their first villain after several failed attempts in previous stories.
When everyone is preparing to go back home at the end of their trip, Stormy is upset because he lost his souvenir, a hat styled like Somnambula's old headdress, during the adventure in the temple. So, Somnambula gives him her own new headdress as a gift, for being so brave during their adventure. As Stormy is screaming his thanks to Somnambula, hugging her tightly and saying he's never taking it off, Somnambula gives him a friendly kiss on the cheek, putting him in a love-dazed shock.

Fillie Jean
Zeb rushes to get Night Shade out of Ponyville but is stopped when Flurry Heart, Pumpkin Cake and Spike run onto the train platform. Spike threatens to report Zeb to Twilight Sparkle if he doesn't let Night Shade have a final word with Flurry and Pumpkin.
