  • Conor and Simon's first meeting. Hitting it off through their interest in music and rock bands, the two young boys become closer over time before even reaching puberty.
    • After getting trapped in a shed by Pete's gang of bullies, Simon consoles Conor and tells him not to blame himself for their predicament. Fortunately, they're able to get out thanks to Mona being in the right place at the right time. It ends with the three of them becoming friends for life.
  • Mona herself is full of these as she remains supportive to both Conor and Simon even after their break-up. If not for her, the two men wouldn't have been able to talk things out and get back together.
  • Mrs. Lee is no slouch in this department early on as she supports her son trying to integrate in his new country and make new friends. She's also treats both Kiev and Simon like her sons even though their ties end bitterly for different reasons.
    • Having drawn a line on homosexuality in general, Mrs. Lee's stance on the subject changes for the better after learning of Simon sacrificing himself for Conor's safety and the reverend making a mockery out of it. Bonus points when she starts referring to Simon as her son once again.
    • It's implied that the Virgin Mary figurine Simon got in chapter 79 came from her.
    • She even attends the main couple's wedding, happily hugging both men during their most important day. The epilogue even raises the possibility of them adopting a baby at her suggestion.
  • Several chapters after their reconciliation, it's revealed that Simon had already finished the song dedicated to him and Conor. The finale has him share it to their adoring public during Dark Heaven's revival.
  • Detective Krakow telling Talen not to be ashamed for seeking help after the latter's violent run-in with Gale.
  • Chapter 68 features a lengthy discussion between two anti-W.A.F. protesters concerning their rallies getting more attention because of the megaphone incident. The Cynic of the pair complains about the public only taking them seriously because a white man (Simon) almost got killed while The Idealist gives a more optimistic take on progressive ideals starting to take root as more people open their eyes to the truth. Their debate ends with them hugging each other affectionately.
  • Gale's last interaction with Simon before leaving Van Tescosa. Despite the bad blood between them, it's clear Gale does care for his older brother deep down and that their relationship could have been better if they had more loving parents.
  • After making love during their honeymoon, Conor thanks Simon for not giving up and vows to make him happy for the rest of their life together.
