- At the beginning of the movie, after Grim and the kids head back to Billy's house and Grim expresses worry over potentially losing his job as the Grim Reaper, Billy and Harold (Billy's dad) try helping him feel better.
- Billy argues to Grim that a job doesn't have to be forever and claims that his dad starts a new job almost every single week.
- Harold confirms this and tries assuring Grim that being fired isn't bad as you think it is, claiming that he himself gets fired "all the time." In fact, Harold's most recent firing happened that same daynote .
- When Boogey is holding Grim and the kids captive on his ship, Grim actually shows a rare protective side towards the kids when Boogey’s about to have them thrown into the Burning Seas.Grim: Come on, Boogey! It’s me you want, not the kids! Let ‘em go!
- When the Kraken eats Billy alive, Mandy didn't seem to worry...until later:Mandy: (with an unsure look) We don't need Billy anyway... right?
Grim: (shrugs)
Irwin: We need to be together! (cries)
Mandy: (hits Irwin with an arm for paddle) Billy’s... always fine... (looks down to the river and quickly wipes a tear)- Later, Mandy doesn't hesitate to shoot at the Clown-Spider-Mailman monster that manifests as Billy's worst fear when he tries to grab Horror's Hand.
- Grim’s overjoyed reaction when he gets his scythe (and job) back is just precious.Grim: I missed you so much!
- Even more so, it was Mandy, the one who had been the most apathetic towards Grim throughout the movie, who convinced Judge Spleen to give Grim his job back.
- At the end of the movie Grim says he doesn't get why he puts up with the kids. Billy says "because you love us!". Grim says "oh yeah yeah" in a way that shows he is not denying it. The fact that Grim will say he doesn't like his friends but doesn't deny that he loves them is actually quite sweet.
