Headscratchers / SCOOB!

• Was Dick Dastardly disguised as Simon Cowell at the beginning of the film? Or was it the real Cowell at the café, and the Cowell we see later in the film was just Dastardly trying to throw the gang off?
  • According to director Tony Cervone, it was the real Simon Cowell. (But for this troper, it would have made more sense if it was Dick.)
  • Since Simon Cowell wanted to get rid of Scooby and separate him and Shaggy from the gang, it would be Fridge Brilliance to have the rest of the team fire him.
• This film is set in the 2020s. but why didn't the Coronavirus exist in this world. no quarantines... no facemasks... no social distancings... why?
  • Dr Quest probably whipped up a vaccine much faster than real life.
  • Besides, it's a universe with talking dogs and superheroes, so it's just as likely events happened somewhat differently than in our world (we hope).
  • The movie went into production in 2018, way before COVID was ever known.
• How are we supposed to take the Cavemen on Mystery Island? In the original cartoon Captain Caveman was frozen and ice and unthawed in the then-present. We go back in time in one episode to see they lived in less modern like settings than the Flintstones. He was later incorporated into Flintstones spinoffs implying he wasn't frozen yet. But in our new setting there's a whole mess of them alive on Mystery Island. We have a Captain Caveman but he doesn't act as much like the original. There's a WMG that maybe this is Cavey Jr but even still wouldn't Cavey Jr be just as dead. But given this movie introduced a Legacy Hero in Brian taking over his Dad's role is it not unthinkable this Captain Caveman alive in the present is not going to end up being the only Captain Caveman in this setting? Or are we supposed to think these cavemen are a looooot longer lived than normal people? Or is "Captain Caveman" just a title given to all the Cavepeople's champions a la the Phantom or the Black Panther?
• If Cerberus is a ghost dog why does he have skulls? Or is it implied that he used to be an actual physical giant three-headed dog who died and descended in spirit to the underworld?
