Headscratchers / Count Cain

Go To

  • The identity of Jack The Ripper. The chapters make it clear that there were at least two Jack The Rippers. Clarence Nash, who was hypnotized by Lady Justice and became a scapegoat, and Merediana's mother, Mrs Everett, with her big butterfly shaped mark on her face. Things become complicated when we consider Jezebel's words of Gilford having seen Jack The Ripper kill someone. The picture that Gilford drew includes the butterfly mark, meaning that he must've seen Mrs Everett kill this woman. And it's heavily implied that the Jack The Ripper who killed for Merediana's blood-supply was a tall man. And much later in the story, looking back at Jack The Ripper with the events from those late chapters, it could be implied that the real Riff was Jack The Ripper. Does this mean that there was at least three Jack The Ripper?

  • Going off of the previous headscratcher, Emelyne's death. Which Jack the Ripper killed her? Her blood and organs are used to elongate Merediana's life, so it must be the one used by Delilah. Yet, when Cain asks Mrs Everett, she says that she killed Emelyne because she destroyed the flowers at her daughter's grave. Is Mrs Everett lying? Or is she telling the truth, Delilah found her corpse and decided they got lucky and used her?
