Funny / The Rescuers

The Rescuers

  • The entire Butt Monkey sequence with Orville: first he's Groin Attacked by a firework, then gets his tailfeathers set on fire, causing a crash landing. When he tries to take off again, then he's sucked into Medusa's Swampmobile turbine intake, first with an all-bird sounding "squack!", followed by a Goofy Holler (water distorted, no less!) and an Ash Face once he's finally spit out the other end.
  • The entire calliope scene, especially Bernard's reaction to being shot up in the air and trying to run!
    • Fridge Brilliance kicks in when you realize that when Medusa hears the noise, her first thought is not 'Who is playing the organ?' or even 'Snoops, stop playing with the organ!' but to shout at her alligators to stop, Brutus and Nero must make it a habit.
Medusa: (storming out of her room) BRUTUS, NERO, STOP THAT INFERNAL RACKET! I MEAN NOW!
    • Even the music that plays as Nero and Brutus are walking is hilarious.
  • When Bernard talks to Orville over the radio, who first mistakes him for the ATC tower, then nearly gets blown away by a passenger helicopter taking off. After a bout of Angrish (completely with radio Sound-Effect Bleep)...
    Bianca: What did he say?
Bernard: I wouldn't dare repeat it.
  • The "preflight checklist" was hilarious. What does an albatross preflight? Goggles, wings, rudder ("tailfeathers"), and..."If at first you don't succeed, try try again."
Bernard: I wish we'd taken the train!
  • The Eek, a Mouse!! sequence that follows the calliope scene. It gets even better when Medusa starts firing a semiautomatic shotgun ... and everyone dives for cover from her erratic shots.
  • The climax itself is both a Crowning Momentof Awesome AND a CMOF.
    • The entire charge of the swamp-dwelling Ragtag Bunch of Misfits is something straight out of a Three Stooges routine, especially when one of them sets off the fireworks on the boat... in which Snoops and Medusa get their rears singed.
    • The initial attempts to get the Swampmobile working.
Bernard: Advance the spark! (HONK!) Not the horn! The spark lever!
    • Medusa ends up getting the a Humiliation Conga of the most glorious kind during the climax. She gets a mini-pitchfork in the rear, multiple rolling pins to the head, a gun blown up in her face, the aforementioned ass scorching, dragged along and bumped about on the water by the Swampmobile in an attempt to reach Penny, USING BRUTUS AND NERO AS WATER SKIS, concluding in her slamming out of control into the sunken riverboat's smokestack while Brutus and Nero BARELY miss.
  • Anytime Luke (or somebody else) takes a drink of his Swamp Juice.
    • They end up using it as jet fuel for the Swampmobile in the climax...and it WORKS.
  • At one point, Penny does an imitation of Medusa's behavior, concluding with imitating Medusa's butt swinging as she walks! Bianca and Bernard found this funny in-universe.

The Rescuers Down Under

  • The whole scene when Joanna obsessively goes after McLeach's eggs as he tries to make an omelet as seen here. Particularly the end, where he seemingly outwits her and gloats.
    • The fact that he keeps his eggs in a toolbox.
  • McLeach's delightfully twisted and hammy rendition of "Home On The Range", as sung through a poacher played by Patton. The cheery "EVERYBODY!" just cements it.
"Home, home on the range! Where critters are tied up in chains! I cut through their sides, and I rip off their hides, and the next day, I do it again!
  • The scenes with the imprisoned animals. Frank has to be led through the entire thing, like he's Dora the Explorer. Krebbs is especially funny, because his wisdom creates a nice contrast to this.
Krebbs: Double or nothing, he's caught in five minutes.
    • Especially funny is the chase scene between Joanna and Frank.
  • McLeach pretending to be worried when Cody said his mom will call the rangers when she finds out he's missing.
McLeach: Oh no, not the rangers! What'll I do? What'll I do? DON'T LET YOUR MOM CALL THE RANGERS, PLEASE!! (throws Cody's backpack to the crocodile-infested river) "My poor baby boy, got eaten by crocodiles! Boo-hoo-hoo!" Ha! (grabs Cody) Let's go boy!
  • "I didn't make it all the way through third grade for nothing!"
  • Joanna playing dead after McLeach lies to Cody that Marahute's dead.
  • The fat snobby female mouse slaps her date (husband, fiance, or boyfriend).
  • McLeach discovering the surprise Bernard led into his truck:
    McLeach: (falsely cheerful) "Joaaana!"
    Joanna: <eagerly rushes to him>
McLeach: (still seemingly soft) "Did you know there was a razorback in my truck? Did ya?"
McLeach: (increasingly angry) "Did ya? Well, THERE WAS A RAZORBACK IN MY TRUCK!" Now you quit playin' around and do your job, you four-legged python!
  • The moment when Joanna notices the mouse in Cody's backpack and pounces on him, causing McLeach to fall into the hole. Especially funny is when he crawls out, officially pissed off.
  • The scenes with Wilbur in the mice hospital. Especially when the mouse doctor orders the nurses to prepare a sedative, and Wilbur protests...
Wilbur: "You can't do that to me! I'm an American citizen, buddy!"
Mouse Doctor: "Better double it [the amount of sedative]!"
    • You get a loving shot of them aiming it - in a shotgun! - at Wilbur's posterior, then nailing him right under the tail.
    • When Wilbur wakes up from the sedative the next day.
Wilbur: Oh...I feel like I got my head in a vice.
(camera pulls back; Wilbur's head really is in a vice)
    Wilbur: (whimpering) Oh.
    • And the Expospeak Gag involving "the epidermal tissue disruptor".
      • Watch carefully, there is a lineup of nurse mice on top of the chainsaw jumping off so they can get enough momentum to yank the pull cord to start it.
    • What makes all this even funnier is that the doctor mice are so used to this reaction that they have a blinking PATIENT ESCAPING sign.
    • The whole escape scene:
Mouse Doctor: "We must return you to the operating table!"
    • After pulling Wilbur back inside (inadvertently straightens his spine), he lands on the doctor, who now needs surgery himself.
Mouse Doctor: My back! (his back cracks)
  • McLeach's Disney Villain Death. He thinks he's scared off the crocodiles, gloats at them, completely unaware he's about to go over a waterfall until the last second. Bonus points for Joanna waving goodbye just moments before.
  • Joanna's attempt to eat the fake eagle eggs. It doesn't work out the way she thought it would.
