After going into labor, Zoe orders everyone who isn't actively helping to leave.
Kaylee: Oh, my, that's... Holy mackerel... River: This is very exciting. Zoe:(through clenched teeth)Everyone. Out.
River and Zoe are hanging out when Zoe asks where Simon and Kaylee are:
River: Where do you think? Zoe: Couple of rabbits, those two.
In fact, when Zoe goes into labor, Simon and Kaylee are still getting their clothes on.
Despite Mal and Inara having undergone a Relationship Upgrade since Serenity, they still argue constantly. Apparently, resolving the sexual tension did nothing to resolve the "belligerent" aspect of their relationship. Some things must just be hard wired into people.
Inara: We can't run forever. Mal: We're not running. Inara: Well, this is the worst vacation I have ever been on. River: You guys fight a lot.
As the crew are introduced to Zoe's daughter, Kaylee asks what her name is, and Zoe says that she'll be named Hoban in honor of her father. Kaylee, with a complete WTF face, tries to say that it's a wonderful name. Zoe then assures Kaylee that she was just messing with her, and plans to name the baby Emma.
Issue 4
Despite the fact that Jayne is not on good terms with Mal at the moment, he wants to ask a favor: when Zoe is rescued and all is said and done...can Jayne be the one to kill the Operative?
Mal: What if I want to kill him? Jayne: Well, then the fairest thing'd be to draw straws.
Kaylee also expresses her displeasure with working with the Operative, though Inara reminds her that they can't play by the old rules any more.
Kaylee: We played by rules? Inara: You know what I mean.
Issue 6
After helping Iris recover her memories, River tells her You Are Not Alone, saying she went through a long struggle to find herself after she was operated on. Simon says that it could be said that River is still on that journey. River and Kaylee just glare at him until he apologizes. Nice job offending both of your girls, there, Simon.
Once they're ready to take off, Mal uses the coms to tell Kaylee to light up the engines while she's in the engine room... having sex with Simon.
