    Lovers of Aether 2019 game
  • The entire premise of Lovers of Aether, really: the characters go from warriors knocking the snot out of one another with magical Elemental Powers to being put into a High School AU Dating Sim that runs on even more Furry Fandom appeal. Fittingly, it was announced and released on April Fools' Day— but what makes it even better is just how fleshed out it actually is. The devs who made this game clearly had a blast with it.
  • The trailer for the game. All of it.
Narrator: All your favorite Rivals of Aether characters, except now they're in high school, and look slightly more human! Because this isn't a fighting game, it's a f— (condor noise) game! Hey, wait a sec, wait a sec, wait a sec. I said friendship. I said friendship. It's a friendship game. Don't— don't bleep friendship. That makes me look bad.
    • A brief moment from near the beginning, in which a snippet from the Rivals cutscene where Maypul joins up with Forsburn is edited to imply the two have the hots for each other (with Maypul being recolored pink as a bonus). That may not be funny on its own, but if you've been following the series for long enough, you'll know that the dev team's favored ship is Maypul and Zetterburn, Forsburn's estranged brother.
    • Wrastor's Suddenly Voiced cameo near the end, with his thick New York accent and ridiculous "chicky-chicky-wah-wah" blabber.
  • The player wonders to themselves how Zetterburn and Forsburn are allowed to be in a public school without special precautions.
  • The completely fair and democratic way that Lovers!Maypul establishes herself as "Class President for life." All in favor say "yea." All opposed, say "I hereby relinquish my right to attend the Homecoming Dance."
Maypul: I thank you all for your love and support. Carry on!
  • Zetterburn's a Lovable Jock in this universe, so of course, nature demands Forsburn be an Emo Teen.
  • At homeroom, Zetterburn wants to show his new "Flaming Throw" football technique to the whole class. You can get him to throw it at Etalus, but it just ricochets off his head with a "dull thud" and him barely noticing. Even when he does realize what's going on, his response is:
Etalus: Whoa! Careful next time, boys... but great pass! Boy, I sure love football... and pranks... love 'em both!
  • The player can struggle with a certain duality: they admit to themselves that Sylvanos is a drug addict and an asshole bar none, but damn if he isn't a beefcake if there ever was one. Even if you're not trying to go to the prom with him on that route.
  • Absa, being a goat-girl and nerd in this universe, tells you she needs to copy from your English homework because she ate her own. As an excuse, she proceeds to describe said homework as if she were looking at a fabulous gourmet meal:
Absa: It just looked so delicious... the delicate curves of my cursive, the sensitive but firm loops, the off-white college ruled paper... I couldn't control myself!
    • If you reply by stating that you also ate your homework, she'll be amazed and impressed... nay, flustered... that you have "such a refined palette."
  • Maypul's grandmother (the same one from Sylvanos' reveal trailer) plays the history teacher for this game, and introduces herself by telling the class to shut their mouths.
  • "My human ate my homework."
  • Ask Orcane (The Prankster in this universe) to the dance without having any meaningful interactions with him, and his response is to play a sick joke on you in front of the rest of the class with a whoopie cushion and milk carton before giving a blunt "nah". And then the failure screen and music show up, and you go back to your seat... only for Orcane to shoot water at you before one making last comment. You feel humiliated beyond all reason, you grab your bag and try to hightail it outta there... only to slip on a banana peel and, out of nowhere, get hit in the face with a cream pie, which you lament about ruining due to your tears salting it. Having survived Orcane's weird Rube Goldberg Device of a prank, you vow to even consider a transfer of schools as you sob on the floor... just as you get hit with a lemon merengue pie. This entire conga-line of petty pranks truly Crosses the Line Twice through its sheer absurdity. Damn, Orcane.
