Go To

It's a parody of the internet of the 90s and early 2000s, of course there's going to be a lot of humor. Whether it be because of the users or since the game hits close to home, you're sure to BWL!

Moment Subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

  • Goodtime Valley is a zone for a lot of elderly users. Some of them unfortunately can't grasp Hypnospace, leading to things such as struggles with the pagebuilder.
  • Zane. He's every edgy teen stereotype on the internet. His page consists of what he typically thinks are cool, including blaring a beloved track from his favorite Nu Metal band. While he's a bully, you'll have a blast at looking at his antics online, like creating a webcomic for his wish-fufillment and faking having a girlfriend on Hypnospace. Stylistic Suck at its finest.
  • While T1mageddon's escapades tend to skirt the line between malicious and mischevious, some of his smaller pranks are appreciably benign.
    • A virus he made that you can end up getting during the course of the game is simply called "ButtsDisease". All it does is make HYPII comment that its butt hurts, change every window title to "butts" and replace the keyboard sounds with fart noises.
    • T1m also pranked SherriHeals and a client of hers by pretending to be a demon (really just a bad CGI head on a stock photo of a potato) named Smoulder Boulder.
  • Reading up on Slushmouth's music guide and seeing him snark about music genres you most likely don't know about can elicit a few laughs.
  • Coolpunk Paradise is home to a music genre and movement and its pretentious members, who can take it a bit too far at times. You can catch up on all their infighting and harassment in the name of deep music at Tina Price's page.
  • Checking back on Goodtime Valley in the second chapter, it turns out that your original case of taking down Gumshoe Gooper has escalated into a zone-wide protest by the citizens there. Nobody at Merchantsoft wants to actually ban them over a cartoon.
    • On another Gooper-related note, one of the children's drawings of Gooper is so bad that it gets rejected when you try to report it for copyright infringement.
  • SquisherZ is the resident Phonýmon, which has its critics that of course detract it as Satanic and being concerned that it'll turn kids into sinners and criminals. But reading a review of the game made by The Observer reveals that these people have even less of a leg to stand on even compared to Pokémon, as the game's "combat" system is entirely based around being diplomatic and kind to animals to help get them to safety.
  • Hypnospace Plus adds more stuff for Counselor Ronnie, including an entire page dedicated to warning teens and parents about the fictional suppository drug known as "T-Nub" (which may or may not really exist), complete with a lame "Drugs Are Bad" rap song and a chart detailing the effects of it over time. This compliments a new mini-game, Drug Runners, where you play as Ronnie in an attempt to avoid getting "shonked."
Counselor Ronnie: (when caught) WHOOAAAA! I've been SHONKED!
    • When T-Nubs are exposed as a hoax his song is hastily reedited with YTP-style sentence mixing to remove any specific references to them.
      If you're a cool teen
      Don't insert a Drugs
    • The birthstone subpage that Ronnie hosts really make one wonder how Ronnie got Hypnospace awarded a federal education grant. Especially with the song that plays.
"Gairnet. Ammatust. BLOOD. Zap-hira. Agatté. Em-ee-rald. Ony-X. Carneleon. Periscope. Bear-I-el. Touppiz. Ruboire."
  • The Dumpster ridicules any part of Hypnospace they deem worthy of mocking, and their articles can flesh out the world of Hypnospace with a humorous and snarky slant. Hearing how Coolfest '99 was a complete disaster (apart from the tragic helicopter incident) is very, very entertaining.
  • The Open-Eyed Zone houses every kooky Conspiracy Theorist and hippie on Hypnospace.
    • Rodney Hooks' page is a long scrolling down to what he promises are serious secrets... and then it turns out that it's all still under construction, for the better of two whole chapters. When he finally finishes, he doesn't even know how to upload his files to lead the page to anything.
    • Tennis was apparently butchered in this universe, turned into "trennis," a game of a circular court with 3 players and a ball-catcher in the center. It may seem like the ramblings of another loony user, but the sports pages list trennis teams, so this could actually be true.
    • Finally, you can discover that plenty of it could be a prank by M1nx and they just happen to blend in that well.
  • Erick "Chowder Man" Helman is a former rockstar from the 80s who's planning a comeback and has used Hypnospace to make this announcement. His portrayal by Hot Dad and the music that he makes are hysterical, and you get to hear a classic yet actually enjoyable single of his throughout the Freelands, "Ready to Shave."
    • "I Am the Chowder Man" has very silly lyrics, such as "I don't buy a round of drinks/I buy a square" and "If you askin' 'bout my hobbies/I garden and paint".
    • In-universe, the opinions of "Ready to Shave" range from Freelands leader Gill Sanders's view of it being a masterpiece deserving of deep literary analysis to Re3koning finding it completely asinine and detesting that Gill keeps forcing it onto their page, which Gill is not happy about.
    • The hidden Chowder Man song "One Legged Man" is for the most part a Tear Jerker, but still manages to inject a bit of humor by having him count off in 3/4 time and then play the entire song in 4/4 time.
  • At the end of Chapter 2, you have to report the pirated music page that's hosted by Dylan Merchant... to Dylan Merchant. It goes about as well with him as you'd expect.
  • The Y2K update for HypnOS initially causes some jittering and stuttering from the program. Their choice of changing this aesthetic is also humorous for emulating how operating systems wanted to make their aesthetic more "sleek" when going into the 2000s.
  • Anytime Re3koning insults Merchantsoft and Dylan is a riot, especially since it's often deserved.
    • M1nx made for some serious pranks in the past, such as suggesting that people play an annoying song on their pages to keep their headband from exploding, and more recently, the introduction of "Beef Brain".
  • Abby's short story, Gumshoe Gooper and the Case of the Missing Bone (which is Dummied Out, but can be accessed after Super Search is unlocked), though bittersweet in context, has some moments worth a chuckle, such as Gooper expecting to show one suspect a police sketch of the missing item in question only to find out too late that it's just a crude scribble.
  • Counselor Ronnie's page becomes funnier when you find out that he started out as a prank created by an intern at Merchantsoft, but the company's incompetency forced him to actually become a real counselor and moderate Teentopia. So, Jezzo essentially pranked himself into getting another unpaid job.
  • One secret page involves two users who are having a fight with each other because one put bees into the other's house without permission.
