Funny / Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Go To

  • Before her first day at work, Gwang-ho stresses to Young-woo that she cannot talk people's ears off about whales. She retorts that it might be relevant to a case. He doubts this, but relents and says, fine, if whales come up, then she can talk about whales.
  • Jun-ho and Young-woo have to go undercover at a hotel's wedding dress tailoring service. Su-yeon, who was going to play Young-woo's part before getting sick, passed along that the excuse (probably meant as a "just in case of questions" thing) they've come up with is that they have to get married fast; naturally, Young-woo immediately volunteers this information to the wedding consultant. Jun-ho turns it around by tying it into their insistence on a strapless wedding dress, saying that their love of provocative clothing is how they ended up getting pregnant, and then covers for Young-woo's awkward agreement by loudly faking laughter until the wedding consultant awkwardly starts to laugh along.
  • When the hotel proprietor takes the stand to testify about the promised wedding present, Attorney Jung asks a question to get around his equivocation by bringing up his praise for what a generous gift it was. The camera cuts to show the hotel's lawyer, who emphatically shakes his head; this is punctuated by the sound of a small cowbell ringing.
  • Young-woo ropes Myung-seok and Su-yeon into performing the theme song of a popular cartoon in order to bond with an autistic man who's hyperfixated on the cartoon. The hilarity of two straight-laced attorneys (one of whom is Young-woo's boss) singing and rapping about a cartoon penguin cannot be overstated. Su-yeon's expression looks like she's wondering if winning this case is really all that important...
  • Geu-ra-mi goes to Young-woo's office to get Jun-ho's help. Young-woo says she'll be able to tell which one is Jun-ho because he's the tall, handsome guy. Cue Geu-ra-mi sauntering over to Min-woo. When the actual Jun-ho introduces himself, her response is, essentially, "Really?", clearly questioning Young-woo's taste in men.
  • Min-woo makes the decision to take a call from the client in his and Young-woo's ATM case (where he's been actively sabotaging her) and continue to lie about her in front of Jun-ho while they're playing basketball together, talking up how charitable he's being by not including Young-woo in much of the case because of her handicap. When he likens working with her to spending time volunteering, Jun-ho visibly tenses in the background, and the scene takes a sudden turn for the amusing as he proceeds to absolutely obliterate Min-woo in the next few seconds of their previously casual match.
  • In Episode 10, Hye-yeong explains her mother hates her boyfriend because she hates all men.
Hye-yeong: She says they're all gigolo bastards.
    Young-woo: Yeong-il is a gigolo and a bastard.
[Jun-ho cringes in the background, clearly very aware this conversation is happening in public.]
  • Su-yeon and Min-sik's date is pure Cringe Comedy, culminating in Su-yeon faking getting a phone call that her house is on fire. While Geu-ra-mi is calling Min-sik with a cooking question.
    Min-sik: ...I got ditched.
    Geu-ra-mi: Already?
  • When Su-yeon and Min-woo return from picking up drinks and ask what's happening, Young-woo bluntly tells them that Attorney Jung was telling them about how he got divorced. When others say that she shouldn't say it like that, Attorney Jung himself chips in that it's true, he did get divorced.
    • Later, when she meets his ex-wife, she remarks that Ji-su is the woman who "endured Attorney Jung for eight years while he only worked, neglecting his wife, before she divorced him", to Ji-su's bafflement.
  • Min-woo declines to participate in a Buddhist ceremony because he's Catholic. Su-yeon tries to claim she's Catholic as well so she doesn't have to participate in the ceremony, which involves bowing 158 times, and Min-woo asks her what her Christian name is, saying his is Gabriel. Su-yeon hesitates before saying hers is Jennie.
Min-woo: (shoving Su-yeon towards the others) Start bowing.
  • When Young-woo tells him that Attorney Jang is the senior on the data breach case, Attorney Jung (recently out of surgery) immediately gives a cut-off expletive before pivoting to tell Young-woo that she should essentially give up on getting him to listen to her. The ableism is no laughing matter, but it's funny to see how much Myeong-seok has his colleague's number - and how openly he dislikes the other man.
  • After he exploded at Young-woo for correcting his same mistake earlier, it's quite amusing to see Attorney Jang sputtering as the judge at the trial interrupts him to corrupt his pronunciation of the word "litigation". He barely holds himself back from losing his temper at the judge in the exact same way.
