Fridge / Wonderful Pretty Cure!

Fridge Brilliance

  • The entire reason why the title is written completely in hiragana: according to Word of God, Komugi can't read katakana. So it makes sense for her, a dog still learning human ways, to start learning her owner's native language using simpler methods.
  • The Cures chase after the Monster of the Week and hug them to purify them, instead of fighting them. With the theme of this season being about animals and the bonds humans have with their pets, had the Cures fought them as usual, it would accidentally look like animal abuse, which is the wrong message to send.
  • Komugi is an unbeatable goalkeeper, and adores playing soccer in that way, since the primary games that humans play with dogs, Catch and Fetch, both are based around a dog finding and/or catching an item, usually a ball, that's thrown by their owner. So she's practically an expert at any kind of game where you have to catch a ball since that's what she's learned to do for years!
  • The difference between how Komugi/Wonderful and Yuki/Nyammy handle the Garugaru reflects both different relationships between pets and humans and dogs and cats. Komugi is primarily a companion, a pet who provides friendship and partnership with others. She is friendly and kind, which is why she heals the Garugaru with kindness and understanding. Yuki primarily provides comfort to her human, and in turn seeks out to remove the source of stress for her human, in this case the Garugaru. Dogs and cats are both used to kill pests, but dogs can be trained to not kill potential targets to better suit what humans need them to do. Cats, meanwhile, while not untrainable, aren't typically trained this way, meaning that while a dog can go beyond the default of 'kill', cats really don't.
  • The reason why the fight between Cure Nyammy and the Owl Garugaru was so one-sided is that the Garugaru are more or less stranded in the human world with only the hooded wolf man forcing them to rampage without any sort of strategy in mind. By comparison, the monsters from previous seasons were created by one of the generals, who knows the strengths and weaknesses of their creations and thus gives the Cures more trouble in combat especially if they were specifically made for a plan in mind.

Fridge Horror

  • Cure Nyammy is every bit a traditional Pretty Cure, and, to the highly pacifist Cure Wonderful and Friendly, she's horrifying, since they've been trying to peacefully subdue the Garugaru, while she almost kills it, and they actually confront her with the fact she attacked the bear Garugaru with anger and sadness. You asked for them to fight the Garugaru, didn't you?
  • If Nyammy did succeed in killing a Garugaru, will it return to its original form or will there just be a huge corpse remaining?

Fridge Sadness

  • Komugi’s extreme clinginess to Iroha, to the point of her detriment (she couldn’t use the Friendly Wand, as she only cared for being with Iroha and nothing else) makes sense, since Komugi was a stray that Iroha found. Depending on what happened, there’s a possibility that Komugi had been dumped onto the street by a previous owner, and her dislike of being separated from Iroha stems from her fear of having that happen again.
