Fridge Brilliance

  • More like Fridge Heartwarming, but Dewey's lie about how being in the band is prestigious? Well for Summer at least, it actually would look great on her resume if she says that she was the manager of a band at the age of ten.
  • Dewey's original band was named No vacancy which hotels use when there are no rooms available. During the battle of the bands scene they are the second to last act after School of Rock which means they were originally supposed to be the last. They were until Dewey made up that lie about them being terminally ill.
  • In the TV show's episode "Freddy Fights for His Right to Party", Summer says that she can tell when Tomika is lying. Tomika then lies and Summer buys it. But in the second episode, Summer said that Tomika's eyebrows rise when she's lying. She must have remembered that and consciously not done it to fool her!
  • In the season 1 finale Mr. Finn introduces Tomika to a concoction which is "not for human consumption". So how does Mr. Finn take it? The same reason he said Beyonce can take it! It's a subtle Call-Back to the first episode where a minor character described him as "a rock God!"
  • No Vacancy congratulates the kids for doing a great job, takes their money and leaves the stage to let them have their encore even though they are the ones who won the actual competition. But given how annoyed they were with Dewey's grandstanding and kicked him out so they could "make it" and be taken seriously, it's likely they didn't even care about glory and attention all that much and simply wanted the money and the chance to get a foot in the door in the industry. They were perfectly happy letting the kids have the limelight; they were in the contest for professional reasons.

Fridge Horror

  • What would have happened if Mullins entered the room while they were at the audition?
  • Dewey could have ruined Ned's career. This is glossed over a lot in the film, but in the stage version the conversation after parent's night highlights several key details like how Ned could lose his teacher's license and the severity of what Dewey actually did.
    • Not sure about that. The penalty for stealing someone else's identity is significantly harsher than being the victim of identity theft. Allowing your identity to be stolen is often not your fault. It would certainly have behooved Ned to cut ties with Dewey pretty immediately to save his career.
  • If there was a real case of abuse with one of the parents, the school wouldn't believe it because of how they normally are.
