Fridge / Friday Night Funkin': Corruption

Go To

Unmarked spoilers for Week 7 and the weeks before it!

Fridge Brilliance

  • For "Philly (Kamex Remix)", Pico is taking the lead of the song by being its main singer, while Boyfriend, partially uncorrupted, has fewer moments where he has to sing. This could be because Pico is having the advantage over the Corruption, thereby making him the lead singer to uncorrupt Boyfriend.
  • The note chart for Skid and Pump's final song, "Chiller", is surprisingly easy, especially compared to the more hectic and note-dense chart for "Sanguine South". However, given that Pump is already fully corrupted and Skid has little if any control over his body, it's easy to infer that Boyfriend was deliberately given an easier time so he would win, making Skid corrupt completely.
  • Why do Corrupted BF and the other corrupted characters get the lead turns throughout Deathmatch? Normally in FNF and its mods, the opponent gets the lead turns, and you're playing as the hero trying to fight them. But here, Daddy Dearest is the only hero left, and you, as the player, are playing as a whole host of bad guys. Of course you're gonna get the first turn from the get-go.
  • Why are Week 8's videos called "Evil BF vs Boyfriend" even though Boyfriend never actually faces off with his corrupted counterpart? Because it's Boyfriend (I.e. BF himself and Soul Boyfriend) fighting the Corruption that calls itself Evil BF from within.
  • "MEMORY//LEAK" shows that Boyfriend isn't exactly the Fearless Fool we know him as, but rather that he stays positive in even the darkest of moments in life. The bright and cheerful scenery seen there is effectively what he envisions whenever he takes on the challenges presented before him.
  • "Yandere Attack" seems like the odd one out when compared to "Allure" and "Estranged", with Boyfriend leading most of the song and the corruption only following along. However, now that Boyfriend has seen through its illusions, nothing can stop him; the corruption knows this, with its remaining efforts amounting to little but delaying the inevitable.

Fridge Horror

  • Corrupted Pico's gun is coated in blood... and so is the side of his head that's closest to it. His left note animation was also changed to make him point the gun towards his head. Made worse when you realize that means Skid's bloody right temple wasn't just for show.
  • Consider that the events of the mod only happen because Girlfriend's parents rope Boyfriend into a rap battle at the mall. Now consider that Mommy Mearest knowingly endangers herself trying to save someone she has no attachment towards, or Daddy Dearest fighting Boyfriend even though Girlfriend isn't there. This wouldn't have happened had they simply let their daughter be, and they know it.
  • Skid and Pump's corruption is already terrifying and heartbreaking enough, but then one remembers they have families in their home series, ones who have no idea what happened to the two and would likely not realize it until it was far too late to do anything about it.
  • When Skid and Pump come back for "Deathmatch", Skid is shown fully corrupted. However, unlike Pump, who has rather animated facial expressions, Skid's face is completely frozen in his expression. Looks like resisting the corruption far longer than his pal has cost him dearly.
  • Week 8 has Boyfriend battling against the corruption inside his body in a Battle in the Center of the Mind thanks to his Heroic Willpower; however, that brings the possibility that the rest of the corrupted cast have been through the same scenario... and failed.
  • With Week 9's reveal that the Corruption can create illusions to fool its' victims, this brings forth the possibility that like Girlfriend, Mommy Mearest made an illusion to subdue Daddy Dearest, but unlike Boyfriend, Daddy Dearest wasn't able to see through it, driving him over the edge and leading to his corruption.
    • When looking back at Week 3 and Week 4, the Corruption's illusions can be Harsher in Hindsight, as it gives the idea that Mommy Mearest and Pico were both fooled into thinking they could save their corrupted opponents.
  • In Week 10, most of the corrupted Tankmen hoard are visibly dead, with skeletal hands and exposed brains, likely following Pico trashing the majority of them in the base game's Week 7. That gives off the worrying implications that not even death can save someone from the Corruption, and that it can just make its job a lot easier.
  • The cutscene preceding "CHKDSK" shows Evil Skid biting into Lila's dead body, likely after having slaughtered her at his own hands. If Skid can see what's going on or when he's uncorrupted, there's no denying it's going to badly scar his innocent mind even MORE than what the Corruption had done so far.
