Fridge Brilliance

  • Depending on when the Sea People-Human interactions occurred in the past, the toxic health effects that the Divine Tree fruits had on humans (shown in the ancient murals) could be in-universe foreshadowing of the effects it would have when infused into Sea People.
  • Both the ancient Sea People technology and the humans' modern technology/tools aren't portrayed as one being better than the other, but each having their own (dis)advantages. At one point, Dave needs to turn a Divine Fruit laser-reflecting mirror to melt some ice that not even his weapons can crack. The mirror is stuck thanks to a rock lodged in its hinge, and the solution is a simple crowbar.
  • Why does Yawie have way more health than everything else in the game? The Gadon, who only had a single infusion from the tree's fruit, have Super-Toughness capable of shrugging off gunfire and explosives. Yawie's been feeding off the Divine Tree's energy for over 800 years, which is why the extremely powerful high-tech weaponry that Duff installed into the drone only deals minor damage to her at best.
  • Despite Vincent and Lois both being emersed in the world of food and being considered Caustic Critics, Vincent is able to provide more useful criticism and helpful advise than Lois. Why? Despite both getting their start around food, Vincent is a trained chef who was mentored directly by Lois' father, and so would know the finer details behind food choices (like why one would add squid ink to pasta dough besides Rule of Cool). Lois, though, took a career as an actress and influencer, and while she knows food she doesn't know it as well as Vincent, so her criticism is much shallower than his.
  • Dave grouses a bit to himself about how the assigned dishes on "Challenge The Chef" always favor the challenger's culinary background. But given that the show's contests always seem to take place in the defending champion's own kitchen, such a bias in the type of dish to be prepared may be intended as a counterbalance to the defender's home-field advantage.
