• Maki's backstory. Her father was a marine researcher who disappeared one day and never came back, which left Maki traumatised. Dave later learns after defeating the Clione Queen that Maki's father was killed by the creatures they loved dearly.
• In-Universe example, when Bancho impresses Otto with his dish, Otto immediately flashes back to his childhood, causing Otto to start bawling his eyes out with joy from the taste.
