The Gillymuck is a Short Horror Film by Dan Samiljan, made as part of Hulu's Huluween Film Festival.
A group of girls are camping out in the woods one night with their troop leader, who's decided to try telling them scary stories. One story she tells them is of a creature called The Gillymuck, a creature that you must not upset under any circumstances.
One of the girls goes out into the woods, and comes across an adorable little creature.
The film was released on October 1st, 2018.
The Gillymuck contains examples of:
- All There in the Manual: None of the characters are named in the short. Their names are listed in the credits.
- Asshole Victim: Three of the four girls are some bullying little brats who scared one of their own to leaving in tears. Those three become The Gillymuck's victims.
- Bait-and-Switch: The girl’s words when she finds the creature out in the woods?Girl: You're... ...Beautiful.
- Berserk Button: Don't make fun of the Gillymuck. Not if you want anyone to ever see you again.
- Demonic Possession: The last girl who befriended the Gillymuck ended up getting possessed by it. She is first seen with glowing Glowing Eyes of Doom, but then her head cracks open and morphs into a grotesque jaw full of teeth and a visible uvula, replicating the scary mouth of the Gillymuck.
- Downer Ending: The troop leader hears the girls scream and goes to check on them, only to find the last girl now possessed by the Gillymuck. The girl then proceeds to attack and possible eat the troop leader.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: The Gillymuck's eyes start glowing when it gets upset.
- Jumpscare: There are two. The first happens when the Gillymuck lunges at the three girls making fun of it. The second is at the end, where the last girl is possessed by the Gillymuck and attacks the troop leader accompanied by a loud shriek.
- Kids Are Cruel: Three of the four girls are NASTY little brats, scaring one of their own and calling her a wuss, motivating her to leave the tent in tears and find The Gillymuck.
- Killer Rabbit: The Gillymuck.
