Carved is a Short Horror Film by Justin Harding, created for Hulu's Huluween Film Festival.

It's the Halloween season, and one farmer is harvesting his pumpkins to sell for the occasion. During the harvest, he comes across one particularly ugly-looking pumpkin that almost looks like it already has a face. Regardless, and heedless of the warnings of the crows, he cuts the pumpkin's vine, intending to just throw the pumpkin out.

However, when selling time comes around, the pumpkin catches the eye of a young boy who starts demanding to have it. The farmer and the boy's family ultimately relent, and the pumpkin is sold. What happens next, you have to see to believe.

The film was released on October 1st, 2018.

Carved contains examples of:

  • Anthropomorphic Food: The pumpkin comes to life and kills the father after witnessing its kin being carved up into jack-o-lanterns. It grows a series of vines that act as limbs.
  • Human Jack-O-Lantern: At the end of the film, a bunch of trick-or-treaters see the severed head of the father on the porch, with a jack-o-lantern face carved into her own.
  • Nightmare Face: The pumpkin gains a face when it comes to life. This one.
  • Off with His Head!: The pumpkin cuts off the head of the father, and makes it into a jack-o-lantern.
  • Scary Teeth: The pumpkin gains a mouth full of sharp teeth as a part of its Nightmare Face.
  • Tentacle Rope: When the father gets ready to carve the pumpkin, it shoots out vines that tie up his hands.
  • Verbed Title: Naturally.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The fact that the pumpkin is about to attack a trio of trick-or-treaters at the end of the movie, shows that it has absolutely no qualms about murdering kids.
