Tropes for the film:

  • Big Applesauce: Ezekiel Mannings is under house arrest in New York with his daughter.
  • Car Fu: The eponymous heroine kills a henchman by running over him while being chased by other henchmen in a Parking Garage.
  • Dangerous Deserter: Sort of. The Courier is a deserter from an unspecified military after she saw her brother die in a classified op in Syria. That said, her being dangerous isn't tied to any fear of being arrested for desertion in the heat.
  • "Die Hard" on an X: Die Hard in a parking garage.
  • Dirty Cop: Simmonds and Bryant.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: Most of the movie takes place over the course of an hour - practically real time.
  • Groin Attack: A henchman during a hand-to-hand struggle with the Courier punches her in the groin and it clearly hurts her more then any other attack she received thus far in the fight.
  • Jury and Witness Tampering: For all of the crimes that Mannings has committed, the police can only firmly tie him to a single count of murder, and that case hinges on a single witness. Most of the movie is his people's efforts to silence that witness, and the Courier's efforts to get herself and the witness clear.
  • Might as Well Not Be in Prison at All: Mannings chafes at being subjected to house arrest, but it's in his luxury penthouse, with nobody restricting or monitoring his calls, allowing him to coordinate the attempts to kill the witness from the other side of the Atlantic.
  • Never Found the Body: Mannings is Genre Savvy enough to understand that until one of his men on the scene has confirmed the kill on the witness, it hasn't happened.
  • No Name Given: The Courier and the Sniper's real names are never revealed.
  • Race Against the Clock: For the villains. Interpol sends reinforcements to secure the site of the witness' murder when Bryant reports it preemptively, giving him one hour to kill the witness and make the scene match his report before his cover is blown.
  • The Scapegoat: The original plan to kill the witness was that the secure video uplink the Courier was sent to deliver so the witness could testify in New York from London had a gas bomb in it, allowing Simmonds to claim that the Courier was Mannings' assassin, who she would then kill.
  • Spanner in the Works: The first attempt to kill the witness fails because the witness was in the bathroom when the gas bomb went off.
  • Tagline: "Don't shoot the messenger".
  • Unperson: The Courier. It likely stems from her past as a soldier specializing in "deniable ops". If she doesn't exist, her country, whatever that was, couldn't be blamed for anything she was doing if she got caught.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: No mention is made as to whether or not the courier's boss, Serge, was in on the plot to have her deliver a gas bomb to a police safehouse, and what the Courier might have done in retaliation for this setup.
