MaXXXine is an upcoming 2024 horror movie, written and directed by Ti West. It is the third part of his trilogy, which began with X and continued with Pearl.
Maxine Minx (Mia Goth) is fresh out of her experience in a farmhouse in Texas. It's 1985, and she's moved to Los Angeles to make it as a mainstream actress, accompanied by her friend Tabby (Halsey). However, a serial killer of young women stalks the streets. When a private detective (Kevin Bacon) tracks her down and warns her that someone is looking for her, and LAPD detectives (Bobby Cannavale and Michelle Monaghan) believe that Maxine is the link to the present day killing spree, Maxine must face the dangers of her past and present.

- The '80s: The movie is set in 1985.
- Casting Gag:
- Though Halsey doesn't have Tabby's thick Joisey accent, they are both from Jersey.
- One of Kevin Bacon's earliest roles was in Friday the 13th (1980). MaXXXine brings the Slasher Movie conceit of the two earlier films in the trilogy into The '80s and is overtly inspired by slashers of all kinds. Worth noting is that the trailer has Maxine asking someone "name 5 actors who got their start in horror movies" - and they leave out Bacon's name since he blew up far bigger after Footloose (released just a year before this movie's setting).
- Expository Hairstyle Change: To reflect the six-year Time Skip from X and her new California home, Maxine has swapped out her loosely-curled brunette hair for blonde curls.
- Historical Domain Character: The trailer shows that the movie is set against the backdrop of the Night Stalker killings and implies that the Night Stalker himself, Richard Ramirez, will be an antagonist.
- Horrible Hollywood: Multiple people that Maxine knows are being murdered in Hollywood.
- Moody Trailer Cover Song: The trailer features a remixed version of Laura Branigan's "Self-Control."
- Pastiche: While X pastiched the grindhouse slashers and horror movies of the 1970s, this movie is apparently going to be a pastiche of Giallo films and 1980s slashers that were heavily inspired by them, especially the works of Brian De Palma.
- Porn Creator Going Mainstream: Maxine is a porn actress who wants to be a mainstream actress.
- Star-Making Role: In-Universe, Elizabeth tells Maxine that this is "the defining role of her career."
- Waiting for a Break: Maxine is auditioning to try and break into Hollywood.
