Do you believe in the afterlife? Do you believe ghosts are real? Have you ever proven that your beliefs aren't just nonsense or just superstitions?

I'd like you all to me two important people who will change your beliefs forever.

Ghost Lab is a Thai Drama Thriller Horror Movie by Paween Purijitpanya.

Dr. Gla (Paris Intarakomalyasut) and Dr. Wee (Thanapob Leeratanakachorn) are a pair of hospital doctors working together. Dr. Gla is a firm believer in the existence of ghosts, and always talking with Wee about it, despite the fact that Wee is a complete skeptic towards it... at least, he is until they both witness a ghost sighting in a waiting room.

From there, the two decide to go out and finally prove the existence of ghosts to the world. But just what lines are the two willing to cross for the sake of their research?

The movie was released on Netflix on May 26th, 2021.

Ghost Lab contains examples of:

  • Agent Scully: Dr. Wee. He simply believes that ghosts do not exist... then he sees the ghost of the burnt man in the waiting room.
  • Ate His Gun: This is how Dr. Gla kills himself for the purpose of the experiment. His girlfriend does the same in front of Dr. Wee in the nightmare he has afterwards.
  • Dead Person Conversation: Dr. Wee sets up Dr. Gla's laptop so the latter can type up messages in response to his questions about the afterlife.
  • Dramatic Drop: When Dr. Gla sees the ghost in the waiting room, he's so shocked he drops his coffee cup. Wee thinks he's just committing to a prank.
  • Disappeared Dad: Dr. Gla reveals that his father died when he was in second grade. Some nights after the wake, Gla went to get a drink in the kitchen, and saw his father's ghost looking at him. This was what inspired him to research the paranormal.
  • Facial Horror: When being attacked by Dr. Gla's ghost, Dr. Wee throws a bottle of mortuary chemicals at him, hitting him in the face. Dr. Gla's cheeck falls off in response to the chemicals.
  • Fingore: In one scene, Dr. Wee tried to cut off his pinky finger to get Dr. Gla's ghost to come to his aid. He tries it again when Dr. Gla's been silent for a while, and actually cuts his finger off this time. He's then seen with it reattached, bandaged up, and with a metal spike in it to keep it in place.
  • Flashback: After Dr. Wee is convinced that ghosts exist, Dr. Gla starts a flashback of him seeing his dad's ghost as a kid.
  • Good Morning, Crono: Dr. Wee is woken up by his cellphone ringing. When he wakes up, he sees a bunch of human-shaped blobs surrounding him and lets out a scream of fright... then he realizes they're all mannequins.
  • Handguns: Wee pulls one out to kill himself with so he can haunt Gla for their research. However, he can't bring himself to do it, so Gla takes the gun and kills himself.
  • Heads or Tails?: When Wee and Gla come to a fork in the hallway, they flip a coin to decide which direction to go in.
    • They flip a coin again in the middle of the movie to determine which one of them will kill themselves and appear to the other as a ghost.
  • How We Got Here: The movie shows two figures getting ready to show a presentation that ultimately proves the existence of ghosts... then it cuts back to Dr. Wee being woken up by his phone ringing. The intro scene was from a nightmare Dr. Wee was having after Dr. Gla killed himself.
  • Missing Reflection: Gla and Wee try to record the ghost in the waiting room, only it doesn't show up on the phone they use.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: When he turns hostile, Dr. Gla's ghost sports some solid white eyes.
  • Montage: We get one of Gla interviewing people about their encounters with ghosts and visiting supposedly haunted places.
  • Sinister Suffocation: Dr. Gla's ghost starts strangling Dr. Wee after subduing him in the morgue.
  • Smash to Black: Happens right when Dr. Wee collides with the floor after falling one story.
  • Take That!: Dr. Gla notes that the ghost doesn't show up in videos like the ones in Shutter, which they deride as not good.
  • Waking Up at the Morgue: Dr. Wee wakes up in a morgue after being thrashed about by Dr. Gla's ghost. He isn't dead, so Dr. Gla's ghost attacks him more there.

As long as we live, we must continue our experiment until the end.
