Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger the Movie: Super Sentai's Message from the Future from Super Sentai, is the "VS" team-up movie between Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger and Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, while also including the debut of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger. It premiered in Japanese Theaters on January 14, 2017.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Assuming that the Zyuohgers are named like the Ninningers, Takaharu at first calls Yamato "Akaohger".
  • Alternate Timeline: Yoshiharu comes from one where Gillmarda successfully manipulated the Zyuohgers and Ninningers into destroying each other.
  • Big Bad: Gillmarda, who comes to the Ninningers in the guise of cutesy Runrun gaining their trust and fooling them into believing that the Zyuohgers were Yokai that wiped out their people.
  • Big Good: Red Falcon takes the lead when the 38 Sentai approach the Ninningers and Zyuohgers.
  • The Cameo: Daisuke Shima vocally reprises his role as Yusuke Amamiya (Red Falcon), who offers the Ninningers and Zyuohgers some words of encouragement.
    • Bud's role in this movie is relegated to this.
  • Cast as a Mask: Runrun’s introduction and first few scenes have him voiced by Haruka Fukuhara. But when he transforms into Gilmarda, his voice is provided by Nozomu Sasaki.
  • Demoted to Extra: The first 38 Super Sentai. Special mention goes to the Gokaigers as well as Ninja Red and Hurricane Red (Akaranger, Magi Yellow and Shurikenger), due to their televised appearances in Zyuohger and Ninninger respectively.
    • Bud shows up to stop the Deathgalien from interfering in the battle against Gillmarda, preparing to transform into Zyuoh Bird only to witness the debut of the Kyurangers.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: The nine-man team of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger makes their debut when they land on Earth to prevent Azald, Quval and Naria from interfering in the Zyuohgers and Ninningers fight against Gillmarda.
  • Fake Shemp: The four non-human Kyurangers noticably have no lines and give only battle yells.
  • In the Name of the Moon: For the Vs. movie, both teams give their roll call in succession. In this case, the current team (Zyuohger) goes first, followed by the previous team (Ninninger).
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority: The first 38 Red Rangers appear to support the Zyuohgers and Ninningers.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Gillmarda, disguised as Runrun, manipulates the Ninningers into attacking the Zyuohgers.
  • Kid from the Future: Yoshiharu Igasaki is Takaharu's son from 12 years in the future who becomes the fourth incarnation of Aka Ninger.
  • Mythology Gag: Not for the first time, Red Falcon takes the lead in an assembly of Red warriors for a Milestone Celebration. To his left is Gao Red, who was the current Red at the first time.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Played straight and then averted.
    • Played straight in that Yoshiharu comes from an Alternate Timeline where Runrun was able to successfully manipulate the Ninningers and Zyuohgers into destroying each other. Which if things went like in this movie, means they weren't able to properly communicate to each other that the Zyuohgers weren't Youkai and were also on the side of good.
    • Averted in a hilarious way as Misao (who was Bound and Gagged wearing a mask that helped push Runrun's false story), was able to let them know that the Zyuohgers were good people as well. But first he needed to let them know about the mask by playing charades with his butt. Allowing both Sentai teams to fool Runrun and get their revenge.
  • Time Travel: Yoshiharu uses the Igasaki-style Time Warp Ninpou Technique to travel back in time.
  • Transformation Sequence: For The Movie, a specially filmed team sequence is done for both the Zyuohgers and the Ninningers. Another unique sequence is between Takaharu, his son and his father as the three generations of Ako Ningers.
  • Use Your Head:
    • While Leo and Nagi are working together, Leo comments that Nagi pulling Me's a Crowd is probably cheating. Nagi and his clones say that they're just using their head, Leo takes this advice literally and charges in to headbutt the enemy. Hilariously the Nagi clones admonish him because that wasn't what they meant.
    • While Lucky is fighting Azald the latter sends him flying into a metal fence, which suddenly bends like rubber and then it sends him flying back headfirst onto Azald. However Lucky holds his head for a moment after that attack,
  • Versus Title: In this case, the Vs. element comes from Runrun having the Ninningers attack the Zyuohgers.
