This fanfiction series contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike canon, where he was the Big Bad of the series, here, Chris is presented as the Big Good of the story and doesn’t display any sadism or unfairness towards the students.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Jose in canon was simply a Big Brother Bully who’d tease and mock Alejandro for being inferior to him. Here, he’s sociopathic and cruel towards his little brother to the point of drugging him just to be better than him.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Gerry is much more serious in this fic and doesn’t goof off or make any jokes like canon. Justified, as the situation is hazard and he tries to help.
  • The Atoner: Although he didn’t drug him, Geoff feels bad about Alejandro failing the exam and offers to help figure out what happened to him.
  • Be Yourself: Throughout the story, Heather learns to not act self-centered and bossy in her attempts to be popular and tries helping people out.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: After learning that Geoff, Duncan, and Alejandro were lying about their bros trip, Bridgette is furious and lashes out at Geoff for it.
  • Big Good: Chris. As the principal, he expels Sugar, Taylor, and Amy for their actions during high school and disapproves of misbehavior from anyone.
  • The Dreaded: Bryan Andes (who fakes his name as Ryan Talker). He is known for being a shoplifter in multiple cities across Canada and has a criminal record of store robbery, sexual assault, riding in tandem and rape. Even Izzy is afraid of him.
  • Dumb Jock: Like canon, Tyler still retains his goofy and clumsy personality, and although he is one of the last people to finish, he still passes the exam.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Chef, normally a Drill Sergeant Nasty: loses his edge when around Eye Candy Justin just like the real show.
  • Everyone Can See It: Heather and Alejandro try to tell everyone that they’re not into each other, but their affection for each other doesn’t fool anyone.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Noah, a general Deadpan Snarker, shows sympathy for Ella being suspended for a week courtesy of Sugar pranking her.
    • Heather is shown to be downright disturbed about her former friends committing cruel actions towards the students behind her back before she left them.
    • Justin is very self-absorbed, but he doesn't do anything that would be considered rule-breaking because he has a reputation of being handsome to keep.
  • Frameup: Someone throws rocks at random things and people, and Ezekiel is made to look guilty of doing so despite being innocent.
  • Gotta Pass the Class: The students who failed the exam have to take remedial lessons and pass a remedial exam or else they’ll have to repeat the school year.
  • Heroic BSoD: Duncan falls victim to this. After getting his leg horribly bitten by a vicious dog and being taken to a hospital, he begins regretting working with Jose and drugging Alejandro just to pass the exam. After a nightmare of Alejandro drilling his leg in and calling him out on his past actions in the previous years, he is traumatized and has to be comforted by his mom.
  • I Have No Son!: Jose’s dad disowns him after learning that he has drugged 26 people and leaves him in his jail cell.
  • Jump Scare: At times, Izzy can be shown scaring people by walking behind them or even sneaking into their rooms.
  • Not Me This Time: Heather's younger brother repeatedly says that he didn't post her embarrassing pictures on social media. He's correct, as Taylor is the one who had done so.
  • Pædo Hunt: Bryan is confirmed to be a rapist as one of his crimes. Inverted with Taylor and Anderson, as Taylor is the one who rapes Anderson.
  • Pushover Parents: Inverted with Kelly, who doesn't back down from Taylor's Alpha Bitch persona and will always punish her, but played straight with Taylor's dad.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Alejandro has several of these in the story.
    • After being teased by Scott about failing the exam and being put into remedial lessons, Alejandro snaps and attacks him to the point of horribly bruising his eye.
    • He also doesn’t hold anything back towards Duncan during his rant after hearing how he got Alejandro’s life ruined.
  • The Scapegoat: Ella gets suspended for a week because of Sugar framing her for a frog incident.
  • Skewed Priorities: Courtney is upset about her score on the exam because she only got 1 mistake out of 200. Gwen even grumbles about this in her head as she at least passed.
  • Stealth-Based Mission: Harold prevents the fake copies of the test created by Taylor in order to keep the real ones intact by bashing the door of the printing room onto one of Taylor's assistant's face. He quickly runs off in order not to get detected.
