Pokeronpa: Legendary Killings is an Insta-ronpa (Instagram-based Danganronpa fan series) created by randomreshiram. It revolves around 21 legendaries being deprived of their immortality and trapped in a deadly game hosted by Monomew. The series can be followed on its Instagram page, which can be found here.

Pokeronpa: Legendary Killings contains examples of:

  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: Despite being the god of Destruction, Yveltal really doesn't like his destructive powers, seeing them as a curse.
  • All for Nothing: Zamacenta becoming the traitor to protect Zacian ends up in him being killed by her in return.
  • Anyone Can Die: As expected from a Danganronpa fan series. Not even the protagonist is safe.
  • Big Brother Instinct:
    • Latios is very protective of Latias and tries to separate her from the group as he doesn't trust anyone in the killing game, much to her dismay. This led him into hot water as he ends up killing Zacian in a vicious way after believing she killed her sister and upon being discovered as the blackened, Monomew uses this to their advantage by using Latias as a bait to lure him into his execution.
      • This is reincorporated, as Latias attempts to defend him from Yveltal when he figures that he was the killer of Zacian.
    • This is Rayquaza towards both Groudon and Kyogre. Despite being disappointed with Groudon for killing Kyogre, he still begs to Monomew to not execute his remaining brother, a plea that falls on deaf ears.
    • Zamazenta loves his sister so much that he becomes a traitor for the group by working with Monomew to protect her from any killing. Unfortunately for him, upon having his secret revealed by Giratina, he is disowned by her before he can explain to her why he decided to become one and ends up killed by her.
  • Blood-Splattered Innocents: During Latios' execution, Latias ends up entirely covered in her brother's blood, completely breaking her.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Usually in Danganronpa, the third chapter features two victims. The third chapter of this fanfic features three victims.
  • Break the Cutie: Chapter 3 is brutal for Latias. To summarize, in less than a day, she gets almost killed twice by both Zacian and Monomew, loses her friend Lunala, finds out Latios killed Zacian and was unable to defend him, is baited into facing her brother's punishment instead of him, and ultimately loses Latios, with the kicker being entirely covered by Latios' blood.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Monomew enforced this on all the legendary mons by restricting their powers and making them mortal.
  • Cement Shoes: Groudon has a heavy iron ball stuck on his leg during his execution, where he's thrown into water to drown.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Zacian's fate in Chapter 3, her body was found disemboweled in the art room table.
  • Deadly Game: What the legendaries are ultimately trapped in; they'll be unable to leave the school for the rest of their lives unless they kill one of their fellow mons and get away with murder without being caught in the battle trial designed around catching them.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Lugia is the protagonist of the series until chapter 2, where he ends up killed. From that point on, the role of the protagonist is given to Yveltal.
  • Denied Food as Punishment: Monomew enforces this in the second motive to those who didn't win an access slip in the claw machine until someone gets killed.
  • Disowned Sibling: Zacian disowns his brother Zamazenta when Giratina reveals to everyone that the heroic dog is the traitor, openly threatening his life and successfully killing him.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Yveltal, the Pokeworld's god of destruction is sweet-hearted, nerdy and fears his own powers.
  • Face Death with Despair:
    • In his final moments, upon being informed after the battle trial that the penalty to being found out is being executed, Groudon loses his cool and pleads mercy.
    • Ho-oh takes it further by undignifyingly attempting to escape the battle arena by flying upon being caught.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Latios initially faces his defeat this way, knowing that Latias will be safe as he accepts his inevitable execution. However, Monomew doesn't find this outcome amusing for himself and decides to play with Latios' emotions by baiting everyone into believing that he will execute Latias instead.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Giratina due to being the ruler of the distortion world and being a rude and sadistic Manipulative Bastard.
  • Forced into Evil: Monomew forces Zamazenta into becoming the traitor of the killing game by threatening his sister's life.
  • Forged Message:
    • For the first motive, Monomew forges letters accusing random targets of being the traitor and sends them to the participants in order to start the killing game.
    • Giratina does this by forging a letter that accuses Dialga of being Lugia's killer in order to make the trial more interesting. However, since he doesn't want to die for Ho-oh's cause, he deliberately writes the claw machine room to be the meeting place knowing someone may find the true ripped letter there.
  • God Is Dead: Somehow, Monomew managed to kill Arceus, the most important and powerful deity of all Pokekind.
  • Hated by All:
    • Nobody likes Monomew due to them forcing everyone to play his deadly game.
    • Giratina seems to have this relationship with everyone in the killing game.
    • Ho-oh gains this reputation upon killing Lugia out of jealousy, with nobody wanting to do anything with him. This carries on the QN As, where the dead members visibly isolate him, especially Lugia.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: This was Groudon's reason for killing Kyogre as he fall for the motive believing that she was a traitor, admitting that he wanted to help the group to find a way to get out of the killing game if he didn't get caught.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Ho-oh kills Lugia in cold blood upon hearing Giratina's rumors of his boyfriend liking Yveltal and taking them as fact.
  • Kill It with Fire: Ho-oh is executed this way, being burned in his collapsing tower and ending up as fried chicken.
  • Kill It with Ice: Averted. In the prologue, Kyurem attempts to kill Monomew with Glaciate, but the ice energy ball is disintegrated suddenly before he can pull the attack, confusing the mon until he's informed that he was depowered.
  • Oh, My Gods!: Characters use words like "Oh my Arceus", "For Arceus's sake" or "What in the Distortion World" for example.
  • Otaku: Yveltal has shades of this, considering his room is entirely decorated with anime merchandise.
  • Running Gag: Giratina is punched by Palkia at the end of each execution.
  • Secret-Keeper: In chapter 3, Reshiram and Yveltal decide to hide the secrets they got (Reshiram got Yveltal's secret and Yveltal got Rayquaza's secret) in order to keep their privacy safe. After the trial, Monomew leaks Rayquaza's secret anyway, revealing that Yveltal got it.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Ho-oh attempts to fly and avoid his execution once he's revealed to be Lugia's killer, but he doesn't get far as Monomew manages to catch up with him and traps him on Bell Tower where he's executed.
  • Trauma Button: At the beggining of chapter 3, Latias inadvertently triggers Yveltal's recent trauma by forcing him to enter the food room where they found Lugia's corpse.
  • Walk the Plank: In Groudon's execution, Monomew forces Groudon to walk the wooden boat's plank by point of sword to start the execution.
  • Waking Up Elsewhere: All the legendary mons wake up without recognizing or remembering the place where they are locked.
